Has run respectably over fences of late and his stable now look in better form having had a spell in the doldrums. The handicapper is giving him a chance now though and he faces an ease in grade here and not one to write off too easily.

Showed improved form in a first-time hood to win on his chasing debut although he's failed to follow that up over fences. Did manage to capitalise on a lower hurdles mark to win over the smaller obstacles in January but two subsequent starts have been a little disappointing. Back over fences now although the suspicion remains he could do with further.

Had looked to show promise over fences but his overall record is a poor one (1/11) and his form of late over hurdles hardly sends you rushing to back him here.

Having flattered to deceive on many occasions over fences (often finished weakly) he finally managed to win on Saturday. Connections turn him out again quickly under a penalty in a bid to follow up in a slightly better contest.

Failed to complete a three-timer having unseated his rider early on in the race won by Chain Of Beacons recently. Should be able to bounce back from that mishap but hasn't proved the most consistent in the past.

His handicap mark is falling rapidly but even off a mark this low he's looked to struggle of late. Did run a better race last time out at Wetherby (travelled relatively well) but hard to totally trust that form.

Only shown modest form over fences with his best recent form being a third at Newcastle sandwiched between two poor efforts (pulled-up in both). More needed at even this level to record his first chasing win.

A total enigma who has yet to win in nine fencing starts despite having shown promise in this sphere. Falling in the weights rapidly but hard to support based on his recent efforts when his jumping has been more miss than hit.

Forecasts

Chain Of Beacons (11/4), Sky Full Of Stars (3/1), Vodka Wells (9/2), Superior Command (7/1), Trust Thomas (10/1), Welcome Ben (12/1), Clan Chief (12/1), Roxyfet (14/1)

Verdict

The 2m handicap from Newcastle on Saturday obviously has a part to play here with the gambled on Chain Of Beacons finally finishing a race off to win easily. Sky Full Of Stars unseated in that race and that detracted from the contest although despite winning his two previous races he’s never been the most consistent in the past. Roxyfet continues to flatter only to deceive and it may pay to give a chance to the dropped in class TRUST THOMAS here who is given a chance by the handicapper. Superior Command would be a danger if he found his form again but looks likely to need further than this 2m1f to show his best.
  1. Trust Thomas
  2. Chain Of Beacons
  3. Roxyfet
