Has twice won over the C&D but string of most recent efforts have been substandard and hard to fancy despite latest reassessment entitling him to run in this grade.
The mare has some decent form in the book from seven runs over hurdles, including a win and three placed efforts. Disappointing most recently at Thurles over 3m when encountering soft ground and worries there will be too much give underfoot again here.
Scored in a maiden at Kilbeggan this time last year over 2m3f, struggled in three handicap outings since the turn of the year. Pulled up latest at Limerick last month and hard to fancy right now.
Winner at Kilbeggan last summer, but has been bitterly disappointing in four runs since October in handicaps and despite going up in trip again for this, is impossible to fancy on form.
C&D winner in August, not disgraced in two decent contests subsequently at Galway and Navan and comes here fresh off a 197 day break. Likes it here and should be able to have a major say.
Has won over hurdles off a mark of 95 in the past, been chasing of late but must rate a player now getting back over these obstacles off a much-reduced hurdles mark.
Yet to win in ten starts over hurdles, though can boast some decent placed form. Major concern that he has unshipped his rider on two most recent outings however. Also fell at Cork in December but will be dangerous if standing up.
Raised 6lb for Thurles win over 2m in February, done his best work at that trip of late but has run well over this sort of distance in the past and cannot be ruled out if in similar mood to last time.
Just the one win from 17 starts over these obstacles, improved effort at Cork last time for step up to 2m4f and can go well here off 1lb higher mark.
Well held in three maiden hurdles since turn of the year, all of them at 2m. Goes up in trip now for handicap debut and, while needing some more, should be given a glance in the betting to gauge confidence.
Ran a decent race off this mark at Downpatrick recently over 2m2f, she's upped in trip now and has to be respected with trainer in excellent recent form.
Forecasts
Show And Go (3/1), Clounts Meadows (5/1), King Blue (8/1), Broughtons Star (8/1), Glendine River (8/1), Aunt Alice (8/1), One Can Cally (10/1), War Of The Pennys (11/1), Dontbackme (11/1), Ned's Island (12/1), Fu's Island (33/1)
If Broughtons Star can get around with his rider in place, he'll be a big player in this but that is to be taken on trust give recent efforts. One Can Cally ran a pleasing race at Downpatrick last time and is off the same mark now for a trainer in fine form while Clounts Meadows comes here off the back of a win at Thurles. Raised 6lb on that win, it's questionable if this trip is exactly what he wants these days. For that reason the return GLENDINE RIVER earns the nod. A C&D winner in August (having also won on the Flat at this track in previous run), she ran well in better company in two outings since and is back in calmer waters now on her return. Show And Go is well-handicapped if able to reproduce his form over fences now encountering hurdles again.
- Glendine River
- One Can Cally
- Show And Go
