Placed three times in four outings over timber to date, including over C&D when last spotted in December. Also won a bumper here so clearly likes the track. Sets the standard on form.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: C Brassil(5)| T: G Elliott

Decent Flat winner, not disgraced in three outings over timber so far and showed some progress last time out at Down Royal on St Patrick's Day. Upped in trip here and shouldn't be discounted.
3

Ballybryan28
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: Paul Townend| T: J Nash| OR:  104
7/1
Given some tough tasks since returning from more than a year off in December, including valuable Leopardstown handicap in February. Ran a bit freely at Naas last month over 2m3f, rather scuppering his hopes. Can play a part if settling.

Hasn't really been able to threaten in three starts for this yard in maiden hurdles, including when upped to 2m3f at Naas in January. Out in trip again here, needs more from somewhere.
Won two point-to-points last year (from six) having been out of action for three years previously. Makes belated rules debut now and is not without a chance if on a going day.

Double Windsor185
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: Sean Flanagan| T: D M O'Brien| OR:  97
10/1
Placed six times in 15 runs over hurdles and has been a regular at this track. Went closest over this trip in August when denied in a head-bobber. Was in contention again in October over longer trip when coming down at the last and having first run since.

Unraced Winged Love gelding represents a stable that doesn't tend to have too many first time out winners, looks best watched in this.
8

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: B J Foley(7)| T: Patrick Cronin| OR:  98
9/2
Without a win in 16 starts under rules, six of them over sticks. Looks held by some of those with form and best efforts so far jumping have come over shorter trip.
An interesting newcomer for the champion trainer/jockey combination and will be absolutely no surprise to see him strong in the betting and running a big race.

Black Franks Angelp122
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: A E Lynch| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  98
10/1
The mare ran within 7L of Augusta Kate at Thurles in November over slightly longer trip, hasn't really built on that effort since and comes here off a disappointing run over this trip at Limerick last month. Could still have plenty more to offer in time.

Eau De Horse325
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: Ricky Doyle(7)| T: I Madden
100/1
She failed to complete in two point-to-point outings and was readily outclassed last May in two starts under rules, the first of which was a Limerick maiden hurdle over 2m3f. Off 325 days and has plenty to prove.

Horse silk
66/1
Unimpressive last year in three Flat runs, off since October and switches to this game with expectations likely to be limited for now.

Forecasts

Ballyegan Hero (11/4), Torrent Des Mottes (3/1), Naturally Blond (9/2), Ballybryan (7/1), Black Franks Angel (10/1), Double Windsor (10/1), Bulls Head (14/1), Swordfight (20/1), Chase The Clouds (33/1), Harmoney Row (33/1), Mister Buddy (66/1), Eau De Horse (100/1)

Verdict

The form Black Franks Angel showed behind Augusta Kate in November would entitle her to serious claims, but she has rather failed to back it up since and so is not viable as a selection for now, though she clearly has ability. The Mullins newcomer Torrent Des Mottes is greatly respected and if the money comes, will surely be capable of having a massive say but, on form, BALLYEGAN HERO sets a decent benchmark and he's already run well over this C&D so can be trusted seemingly to give his running. Double Windsor has also gone well around here before and while not one to be easily trusted, has the tools to win a race of this nature.
  1. Ballyegan Hero
  2. Torrent Des Mottes
  3. Double Windsor
