Stables horses are going well and he produced a career best when sent off favourite in a competitive race at Musselburgh last time. Has hit a flat spot in each of those races and would benefit from a strong pace.
Bought as a three-year-old for £8,500. Related to a couple of minor winners. Yard are 4-24 in these races here with a further 10 making the frame.
Home bred gelding by Galileo out of a dam who won a couple of middle distance hurdles for the stable. Makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and with the yard beginning to hit form. Trainer has had three winners from his last eight runners in this type of race.

Bought for 3,500 guineas as a three-year-old and related to a minor winner on the Flat. Would appear to face a stiff task on his racecourse debut.

Regally-bred individual but, considering he went through the sales at 140,000gns a as a yearling, it has to be disconcerting that he swapped hands for just £2,000 as a three-year-old. Stable are 0-14 for this NH season and 0-11 in bumpers over the past five years.

Half-brother to the useful Irish pair Casual and Rich Coast. Weak in the market on his debut in January but will know more about the job now. Good jockey comes for the one booked ride.

Bought unraced from Godolphin for £6,000. Most of this type from this yard need their first run and jockey bookings would indicate New Granada is their first choice.
€60,000 purchase as a three-year-old who is closely related to champion hurdler Hurricane Fly and half-brother to 3 other winners on the Flat. Stable historically do well in these races but are only 2-38 this season.
Makes limited appeal on pedigree but still picked up for £12,000. Stable have had a good year in these races being 8-29 for the season.

Verdict

As usual there are lots of angles from which to attack this type of race and none make it any easier to pinpoint a likely winner. Of those with form, Infinite Sun and Wemyss Point appear closely matched, whist New Granada can be expected to step up considerably from what was a promising debut. Cabin Boy and Tickerty Boo represent yards with good records in these races but their pedigrees fail to set the pulse racing. Who's My Jockey makes more appeal on pedigree being closely related to Hurricane Fly and three winners on the Flat. His yard have only had two bumper winners all season and one of those was a dead-heat. COUNTER SHY is a son of Galileo out of a dual winning hurdler for the Mcmanus/O'Neill team. He looks a likely type for this representing a yard that had three winners from their last eight runners in bumpers.

  2. Who's My Jockey
  3. Wemyss Point
