Has won three times over fences despite taking risks at some of the obstacles and has failed to complete his last two races. Likes to dominate from the front and will get an opportunity to do so here. Ground has come right for him too.

Outran this mark when collecting a decent novice chase at Musselburgh last time. Well suited to the ground and trip so has a chance to continue on the upgrade.

Winner of two races over 2m from the front this winter but unable to dominate last time. May be denied that opportunity again and no signs in two previous races beyond 2m that he wants to go any further.

Forecasts

Ash Park (5/4), More Buck's (7/4), A Little Magic (5/2)

Verdict

Tactics are going to be interesting here with two front runners taking each other on. ASH PARK is the form pick based on his latest success at Musselburgh when a few of his rivals looked better off at the weights. He could be ahead of the handicapper judged on that effort but there is a fear that he may not get into the race if his two younger opponents go off quickly. A Little Magic had made all to score on two tight circuits this winter. A tongue-tie (retained here) was fitted last time when beaten into third. Either by design because he was tackling a longer trip, or as the winner went off so hard in front, he failed to lead that day and faded in the closing stages. Up a further 3f here, and with another confirmed front-runner in the lineup, it is harder to make a case for him. More Buck's has been running in better class races following two wins in similar grade at Fontwell and Sandown. His jumping has let him down on occasions and he has failed to get round on his last two starts. The better ground and smaller field will play to his strengths but he is not one to bank on if forced to battle.
  1. Ash Park
  2. More Buck's
  3. A Little Magic
