Showed little in bumpers and even less in two novice hurdles. Doubtful cheekpieces can produce the amount of improvement needed.

Has been aimed high in a couple of races including the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival last time. Form of his Wincanton victory is not that strong but this will not take much winning. Yard are a modest 1-19 around here.

Flat winner at a modest level who is suited to fast ground. Likes to force the pace and may need this run after a layoff.

Point-to-point runner-up on good to firm. Ran well in a hot Newbury bumper and disappointed in the mud at Bangor next time. Pedigree suggests he may be a stronger proposition on the predicted faster ground.

13/8
His Ludlow third to River Wylde reads well and conditions were probably too testing next time. Has had a run on the AW since and has been given a break. Champion rider has been booked and he has the right-handed track he needs. So long as there is no rain he will take some beating.
Has offered little when sent off at big odds in bumpers and two hurdles. Looks set for another struggle here.

Dreamcatching (4/6), The Blue Bomber (13/8), Storm Warning (11/1), Ghostly Arc (33/1), Bricbracsmate (150/1), Kristal Star (150/1)

Verdict

Dreamcatching will find this a lot easier than the Fred Winter he contested at Cheltenham. He was well beaten that day and his previous win at Wincanton has not worked out well. It is hard to get a grip on how good he is but, with his yard having such a modest success rate around here, preference is for THE BLUE BOMBER. The champion jockey gets the leg up on a horse who has a tendency to jump to the right and evidence points to a preference for decent ground. His Ludlow third to the useful River Wylde and another subsequent winner looks good in the context of this race. Storm Warning produced a good run in a fast ground point-to-point and could be a lot better than his latest bumper form suggests with the ground coming right for him. He is worth checking for support in the market.
  1. The Blue Bomber
  2. Dreamcatching
  3. Storm Warning
