Poor effort when last seen out in February, finishing last in a similar class race at Newbury but that was on soft ground, so easily excused. Likely drying conditions much more in his favour here and ran well here in December. May bounce back.

Well named as he's not the biggest, but that hasn't stopped him from winning twice this calendar year. Likely conditions fine, but below par last time out and it could be that the handicapper has him in his grip now.

Looked a lot happier on good ground at Doncaster when staying on well to land a competitive handicap than on soft ground at Newbury last time, where he never jumped with any fluency. No surprise if he came back to earlier form on this better ground.

Looked mildly progressive over hurdles until a poor effort last time out, mid-race mistakes costing him any chance and was pulled up. Chase debut today and will need to jump much better than that against experienced rivals. Best watched.

Not disgraced on last couple of efforts but has hardly looked like a winner in waiting either. Jumping technique needs improving on if Kempton effort last time is anything to go by, and looks an unlikely winner.

Forecasts

Get Involved (11/4), Petite Power (11/4), Boa Island (3/1), Beggars Cross (7/2), Desert Retreat (8/1)

Verdict

Get Involved will try and win this from the front, but he'll need to fence better than he did at Kempton or he'll soon find himself under pressure. Back on better ground, the suggestion is BEGGARS CROSS, who got stuck in the Newbury mud last time but had looked on the upgrade again when winning at Doncaster the time before. Boa Island is another that will appreciate better conditions and he can take second at the expense of Petite Power.
  1. Beggars Cross
  2. Boa Island
  3. Petite Power
