Reliable mare who did well when stepped up to staying trips during the summer months of 2016, winning over an extended 3m1f at Cartmel (handicap hurdle) in July 2016. Raised 3lb, and additional yardage to contend with on her seasonal bow, but should go well on ground which suits.

Provided this trainer with her first winner at Catterick early last month when winning a soft ground 3m1f handicap hurdle by 10L from Bankhall. Beaten in tough conditions under a 7lb penalty at Hexham just eight days later, but is set to encounter much less testing ground (or a strong headwind) today.

C&D winner on soft ground in October 2015, but has been below par at this track on his latest two starts. He's now 4lb lower than his penultimate run (fifth to Askamore Darsi), and returns to hurdling having shown little sparkle over fences here last week.

Hasn't won since December 2013 (for Robert Tyner), and was pulled up in his final two starts for that yard last spring. A similar tale in both runs for this trainer (over fences at Ludlow), and needs to show much more now stepped up in trip and returned to hurdling for the first time in a while.

Grand Enterprise14

85/40
Took advantage of a good mark (95) to score at Doncaster in January (3m), but has been held from higher marks in three races since, although did finish a runner up to the Nigel Hawke trained Midnight Request on his penultimate start at Carlisle. Drying ground likely to suit, and with race fitness assured can go well despite his rising mark.

Forecasts

Grand Enterprise (85/40), Jac The Legend (11/4), Whatdoesthefoxsay (11/4), Redkalani (11/2), Daring Article (11/1)

Verdict

Whatdoesthefoxsay encounters this marathon trip for the first time on her seasonal return, and whilst massively respected on ground which will suit, this might just find her out. GRAND ENTERPRISE is perhaps high enough in the weights, but has race fitness on his side and should be suited by this combination of drying ground and trip, and is just given the nod.
  1. Grand Enterprise
  2. Whatdoesthefoxsay
  3. Jac The Legend
