Mainly consistent since joining his current yard but still no closer to ending his losing run. May still need to drop a few more pounds before he can shake off the hoodoo.
Recently switched yard again but appears to have lost his way just at the moment. And while he may be approaching an attractive mark, he still needs to prove he is as effective on the AW as his on Turf and basically looks opposable on these terms.
Almost five years since he was last successful and while he hasn't stood much racing since then, he posted a fair effort on his return to the action in February. Needs to prove he can still stand up to the demands of an AW surface; the first-time hood and tongue-tie combination may help but other can lay out more solid cases for defence.
Still has relatively few miles on the clock but struggled to follow up her Chepstow win last August when raised 4lb after reassessment. The fact her stable has also been quite of late is a further reason to look for alternative selections..
Posted a solid effort over C&D last time out and has more scope than a few of the rest. One to bear in mind now he is gathering more experience.
Respectable effort over 7f last time out and possible that he may now need this slightly sterner test of stamina. Wouldn't be one to rely upon too heavily and needs to post his best effort for quite some time if he is going to add to his tally of one solitary win from 21 previous starts.
Returns to the Flat after taking a couple of falls in point-to-points; needs to prove his well being and best watched on his debut for a new yard.
Been several years since he has managed to put a sequence of solid efforts together and is in danger of becoming unreliable these days. Has won over C&D in the past but recent form is hardly inspiring for anything other than a speculative punt for old times' sake.
A long-standing maiden who has thrown away a number of winning opportunities over the years. Has been placed off higher marks in the past, so would be harsh to rule her out of making the frame if she strides out to the best of her remaining ability. The jockey's 7lb may help.
Hasn't won on the AW since 2012 but seems revitalised by his recent switch in yards and has posted a couple meritorious efforts since the move. Not without risk for win only purposes, but he has very little find to get involved in a scrap for one of the places at least. Last won off a mark of 71, so very treated on the best of his old form.
Lightly raced in comparison to many of the others but he has never troubled the judge in any of his nine previous starts under rules and hard to envisage him being transformed by his first visit to Kempton. Others make much more appeal.
Won over C&D off a mark of 57 a year ago, so feasible that he can make the grade on these terms. Needs to better his recent starts at Lingfield and Chelmsford but seems to raise his game at Kempton, so no forlorn hope in this weak company.
Cost 80,000 gns as a yearling but then changed hands for just £1,800 in December 2015. The fact that he hasn't repaid a penny of that outlay in terms of prize-money tells the whole story. Best to look elsewhere.
5lb wrong at the weights and makes very limited appeal on the form she has registered in the book.
Forecasts
Almanack (6/4), Tidal's Baby (8/1), Blackthorn Stick (9/1), Sir Compton (11/1), Jack The Laird (12/1), Talksalot (12/1), George Baker (12/1), Fantasy Queen (14/1), Arcanista (16/1), Mime Dance (16/1), Olympic Duel (20/1), St Andrews (25/1), I Can't Stop (33/1), Captain Joe (66/1)
Some real characters come into opposition in the finale and while the likes of Sir Compton and Blackthorn Stick have decent claims in a such a weak event, the vote goes to TIDAL'S BABY, who has thrived since joining Tony Carroll and, even though he is on a long losing run and has only won three time in 63 previous outing, his recent form stands out as being good enough to take top honours here. Support in the betting for Arcanista could prove to be significant and she is another to bear in mind for a place in the frame if the vibes are positive.
- Tidal's Baby
- Sir Compton
- Blackthorn Stick
