Galileo gelding makes racecourse debut in this and while the trip should be no major concern, the yard have been a bit of out sorts recently.
Uninspiring effort at Navan on debut in July on turf, beating just one rival home. That was over 6f, upped in trip for return but has something to prove for now.
Last of 20, beaten more than 30L on debut at Naas recently over 6f, up to the mile but needs major improvement on that effort to be competitive.
Just the one appearance while in the care of Jim Bolger, beaten 13L in a 1m1f maiden event on turf at Gowran Park almost a year ago. First run for new connections, worth a glance in the betting to gauge confidence.
Placed five times in ten maiden outings last year, including behind subsequent Group 1 winner The Gurkha. Sets a fair standard on that evidence and potentially the one to beat on AW debut for leading trainer.
Not beaten all that far in decent looking Curragh maiden over 1m2f last May on sole 3yo outing. Representing powerful connections and greatly respected for this return to the racecourse.
Street Cry filly makes plenty of appeal on paper ahead of this racecourse bow despite the presence of some decent rivals. She's in good hands and should be noted in betting.
Filly was well beaten off in a mile turf maiden at Navan in September in her only run to date, needs a good deal more on return if she's to make an impact on first start for new trainer.
Just the two previous runs for this Dylan Thomas filly and she improved nicely second time out, beaten just a nose in a cracking finish over this C&D. Entitled to have her say in this contest too.
Soldier of Fortune filly was well held in a C&D maiden last month and has plenty to find with runner-up Nivvo on that evidence.
Lilbourne Lad filly is a newcomer representing trainer with 17 per-cent strike rate at this venue in the last 12 months. Any money behind her could be worth noting.
Beaten 10L in a Curragh maiden in October on sole previous try, makes AW debut and ought to be capable of better, though is meeting some useful looking rivals.
Forecasts
Zabalan (8/11), Saafarr (11/4), Nivvo (5/1), Allegio (14/1), Surrounding (25/1), Buttermere (25/1), Vavaoom (25/1), Costa (25/1), Momofuku (33/1), Pari Passu (50/1), Rive Normande (66/1), Mel Biechif Diane (66/1)
SAAFARR was unlucky not to get off the mark last season having run consistently well in turf maidens. It is perhaps something of a worry that he didn't win at least once last term but there's every chance he'll be stronger now and he is given the nod for a winning AW bow. The once-raced Aga Khan colt Zabalan is rated a massive danger having run with huge promise in a Curragh maiden last May on his only outing. They look the two to focus on for win purposes. At a price, newcomer Buttermere could have something to say for herself while Nivvo merits consideration for placings having performed admirably on just her second start over C&D recently.
- Saafarr
- Zabalan
- Nivvo
