Progressive hurdler for Keith Reveley in 2014. Off the track two years but has been well supported since his return in all three runs for new trainer. Has been keen and and has tired on each of those occasions. Will need to settle better on this more testing track and over these larger obstacles on chase debut.
Has three wins this season all gained over longer trips. Makes chase debut and should make the transition having been placed in his sole point-to-point start.
Has failed to build on a promising effort at Wetherby on Boxing Day. Yard's horses have been going better more recently than was the case for his last couple of starts. Makes chase debut on ground that is anticipated to be softer than he is used to.
Same mark today as when beaten just 1L by Karisma King over at Market Rasen last time, confirming the theory that he would probably have challenged for the win had he not fallen there the time before. A clear round again should see him right in this if his jumping stands the test over this shorter trip.
Winner of fives races this term including a C&D success in December. Beat an in form rival last time and the third has gone well since. A 2lb rise for that victory gives him an excellent chance to follow up.
Winner of an Irish point-to-point who ran well in a couple of novice hurdles last spring. Ran well here on his chasing debut but took a crashing fall at the first next time. Has looked a difficult ride at times and has also shaped as though needing a longer trip.
Forecasts
Scooter Boy (9/4), Spiculas (11/4), Halcyon Days (5/1), Ryalex (5/1), Thyne For Gold (7/1), Endless Credit (11/1)
HALCYON DAYS has been holding his form well this season. The form of his latest victory looks strong enough and a 2lb rise in the weights is undemanding. His experience over fences enhances his prospects with the pick of his rivals still to prove themselves. The pick of these is Scooter Boy who has been prone to errors. He finished clear of a subsequent winner when chasing home Karisma King at Market Rasen. He jumped better that day but back down in trip his technique will have to be flawless. Spiculas is the pick of the chasing newcomers for a yard that do well here.
- Halcyon Days
- Scooter Boy
- Spiculas
