5/1
Stratford bumper winner who was third at Fontwell on her second hurdles start last summer but has struggled in both starts since, including on her handicap bow over this trip. Returns from a break needing to improve.

Norse Lightp,t8
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: David Dennis| OR:  99
3/1
It's 16 races since he last won (1lb higher mark) but he has gone close on occasions, including when chasing home Timeforwest over this sort of trip at Market Rasen (good) last week. Not ruled out.

Horse silk
Baldadashp15
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-2| J: James Davies| T: J Santos| OR:  90
17/2
Not had that much racing for his age but largely unconvincing since notching a sole win from 20 starts over this sort of trip at Newton Abbot (good to soft) two years ago. Finished tired at Southwell two weeks ago.

Kilinakin39
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: W Featherstone(5)| T: Miss Z C Davison| OR:  87

Changed hands for £10,000 after winning a point-to-point last spring in testing conditions but has shown nothing in three hurdle starts so far to justify that outlay. Handicap debut today, so improvement could be forthcoming.

Presenting Berkleyp174
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  86
3/1
Bits and pieces of promise, including when a close up fourth behind Pulpitarian in a first-time visor at Musselburgh (3m, good) last time out. Cheekpieces preferred today as he drops in trip. Has to be of interest.
7

Cosmic Diamondt20
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-7| J: R P McLernon| T: P R Webber| OR:  81
14/1
Only minor promise shown in eight starts to date and has appeared to take a step backwards in her two most recent starts. Unconvincing on her only previous attempt at this trip but may do better now.
8
Horse silk
Pass On The Mantle83
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-6| J: M D Grant| T: J S Smith| OR:  80
7/1
Won a particularly weak Market Rasen handicap hurdle a year ago over 2m4f but has shown little either side of that. Readily outpaced returning from a break over 2m at Taunton last time but more in favour now.
10
Horse silk
Badger Run95
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Thomas Greatrex(7)| T: P G Murphy| OR:  72
14/1
Has shown nothing of note in six starts and was already struggling badly when falling at Taunton last time out in December. Would be a surprise winner today despite a tumbling mark.

Forecasts

Presenting Berkley (3/1), Norse Light (3/1), En Joule (5/1), Pass On The Mantle (7/1), Kilinakin (8/1), Baldadash (17/2), Dan's Quest (12/1), Cosmic Diamond (14/1), Badger Run (14/1), Exotic Friend (25/1)

Verdict

Norse Light chased home Timeforwest (runs 4.10 race) at Market Rasen last week and that form has obviously been boosted since by the winner's facile follow up victory at Taunton. He is clearly on a favourable mark but, even so, isn't the easiest to catch right and the less exposed PRESENTING BERKLEY is preferred over a shorter trip in first-time cheekpieces. Handicap debutant Kilinakin looks the most interesting of an unconvincing remainder.
  1. Presenting Berkley
  2. Norse Light
  3. Kilinakin
