11/1
Nothing special shown in bumpers and four hurdle starts so far, failing to improve for a big step up in trip on her handicap debut at Plumpton (3m1f, good to soft) last month, beaten over 30L. Needs to step things up.

Some useful form on the Flat in her native France and gradually coming to hand over hurdles, finishing a 6L third behind Funny Oyster at Plumpton (2m1f, good to soft) last month. Worth a stab over this longer trip on that evidence.

Some promise shown in a Musselburgh bumper but has struggled in three novice hurdles in testing conditions. Starts life as a handicapper on a lowly mark though and no surprise if the longer trip and assistance of the champion help spark improvement.

Has won off much higher marks in the past but is nowhere near that level nowadays. Even so, he went close to winning off a 3lb lower mark at Plumpton (3m1f, heavy) last time out and warrants respect if in the same mood.

8/1
Point-to-point winner who showed signs of ability in bumpers last summer but very little to enthuse over in three starts over hurdles so far. Longer trip may help but others preferred.
7

Phar Away Islandp5
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-11| J: Harry Teal(7)| T: J Berwick| OR:  85
13/2
Put some disappointing efforts behind him when winning in testing conditions over 3m at Chepstow last month but struggled off a higher mark on good ground at Taunton next time. Others more convincing.

9/2
First signs that there may be races to be won with him at Lingfield in January when fourth over 2m3f but couldn't back that up at Wincanton next time. Still, couldn't be ruled out if putting best forward.

Showed promise when second in an Irish point-to-point last spring but beaten out of sight in all five starts over hurdles so far, including on his handicap debut at Ffos Las last time out. Very little to recommend him.

4/1
Has shown very little to enthuse over in five starts to date and, if anything, seems to be regressing. Pitched into a handicap for the first time needing a massive improvement to get competitive.

Comedy Housep90

66/1
Dual Flat winner in his younger days and also landed a bumper but has yet to even place in 14 attempts over hurdles. Fit from an AW campaign as he reverts to hurdles for the first time since May last year. Readily opposed.

Forecasts

Plantagenet (4/1), Landscape (9/2), Denny Kerrell (9/2), A Montmartre (6/1), Phar Away Island (13/2), Betterlatethanneva (8/1), Sergio (9/1), Jebs Gamble (11/1), Courtinthemiddle (16/1), Boethius (16/1), Comedy House (66/1)

Verdict

A race lacking in depth and this could be an opening for handicap debutant SERGIO in the hands of the champion jockey with this longer trip likely to work to his advantage. A Montmarte is also likely to relish this step up in trip and looks potentially well-treated on the evidence of her latest effort at Plumpton whilst Landscape and Danny Kernell could also figure if putting their best foot forward.
  1. Sergio
  2. A Montmartre
  3. Denny Kerrell
