1/2
Towcester bumper winner who opened up over hurdles with a win at Chepstow (2m3f, good to soft) and has placed three times since, though below his best on heavy ground last time. Less to do here despite conceding weight all round.

100/1
Never produced anything of note in three bumpers back in 2014/15 and obviously has plenty to prove after such a long layoff as he makes a belated hurdling debut.
3
Horse silk
10/3
Friendless in the market in all three starts but displayed clear signs of improvement when finishing a runner-up behind Jerrysback over 2m4f (heavy) at Plumpton last time. Forced the pace that day and is respected in this company.

10/1
Signs of promise without ever looking like winning in bumpers last season but soundly beaten in two runs over hurdles so far, though glimmers of improvement in a similar event over C&D (good) last time. Should have more to offer.
5

100/1
Poor form in point-to-points and has fared little better in two starts over hurdles so far on soft ground. Open to improvement but looks opposable in the short term.
A hurdles winner in his native France but was pulled-up when pitched straight into a Cheltenham Grade 2 event on his debut for current yard. Little sign of improvement at Doncaster next time, so a tongue tie is now reached for.

Forecasts

Laser Light (1/2), Jaisalmer (10/3), Mr Fenton (10/1), Wealth Des Mottes (10/1), Tricky Silence (100/1), Aspecialpresent (100/1)

Verdict

Laser Light sets a clear standard here on form and, whilst it would be no surprise to see him duly oblige, the fact that he has twice been turned over at cramped odds tempers enthusiasm slightly. Jaisalmer is the obvious alternative after his fine effort at Plumpton last time but it may pay to give one more chance to the hitherto frustrating WEALTH DES MOTTES over a longer trip in a first-time tongue-tie with the Paul Nicholls' yard in such great form.
  1. Wealth Des Mottes
  2. Laser Light
  3. Jaisalmer
