4/1
Smart hurdler but hasn't set the world alight in two runs over fences and was given a real scare when made a huge odds-on favourite at Leicester (2m, soft) last month, only getting up late. Interesting to see how he handles this big step up in trip.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  137
11/4
Four-time hurdles winner who advertised his stamina when winning a novice handicap over fences at Sedgfield (3m2f, good) in the autumn. Way below that for when last seen out at Catterick in January but can't be written off.

1/1
Useful hurdler who scored nicely at Exeter (3m, good) on his second chase start in November and wasn't disgraced on unsuitable soft ground in a Grade 2 event won by Bigbadjohn at Ascot last time. Strong claims.

Favorito Buck's87
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  129
8/1
Won a valuable Listed hurdles contest in France but presumably had his problems and things just haven't happened for him for present yard. Pulled up on his chasing debut at Wincanton and obviously has questions to answer.
5
Horse silk
200/1
Placed in an Irish point-to-point but has looked very limited in five starts over hurdles for present connections. Hard to get too excited about as he switches to fences.

Forecasts

Laurium (1/1), Jimmy The Jetplane (11/4), Bivouac (4/1), Favorito Buck's (8/1), Goosen Maverick (200/1)

Verdict

The way Bivouac made such hard work of winning at odds of 1/7 last time out doesn't bode well for this tougher assignment over a longer trip and preference is for his stablemate LAURIUM on the strength of his impressive Exeter win prior to finding Grade 2 company too hot last time. It's hard to believe there isn't more to come from Favorito's Buck but Jimmy The Jetplane rates a bigger threat based on actual form on the board.
  1. Laurium
  2. Jimmy The Jetplane
  3. Bivouac
