Showed some useful form in France in juvenile hurdles wining a couple of events. Was very easy to back on his GB/stable/handicap debut at Sandown and ran very poorly when possibly unsuited by the testing conditions. More likely to enjoy the better surface that he faces now with the tongue-tie on for the first time.

Won a couple of handicaps around this time last year and now back below his last winning mark. Not really in any sort of form when on his last few runs though and would need to show more to take a hand here.

7/2
Dual bumper winner who took her time to make her mark over hurdles finally breaking her maiden at the 10th attempt. Yet to win in handicaps and runs off her highest career mark having not been seen since winning at Stratford last July when winning a weak novice event under positive tactics which appeared to suit.

1/2
Dual C&D winner this term with both wins coming under positive rides in what look to have been fairly weak contests. He makes his handicap debut here off what looks to be a workable mark but may face competition for the lead and his hurdling could do with a little more fluency.

Not seen over hurdles since October 2015 when winning a Warwick novice over 2m. Was switched straight to fences after that and has won twice in that sphere but has been struggling of late and the switch back to smaller obstacles is understandable although this is a tough task.

Forecasts

Shantou Rock (1/2), Avispa (7/2), Discours D'un Roi (9/1), Thunder Sheik (16/1), Canicallyouback (33/1)

Verdict

There should be a decent pace on here via Shantou Rock and Avispa both of whom like to go from the front. That could set the race up though for a closer and the most likely to feature in that role is the lightly-raced DISCOURS D’UN ROIwho should like this better ground and wears the tongue-tie for the first time for a stable that does well with their hurdlers here.
  1. Discours D'un Roi
  2. Avispa
  3. Shantou Rock
