Won a couple of similar contests last season and looking to be in reasonable form of late when placed twice. Ran creditably over C&D last time out but can make mistakes and those can at times prove costly to his chance.

Capable of some very smart form in the past over fences (won off a mark of 140) but has proved very hit-and-miss of late. Last three runs have been well below form and hard to know what to expect from him here.

The yard have been in much better form of late and this one looked to be getting back to his best on his last start over C&D. Wasn't helped on that occasions by jumping left throughout the contest but still finished a respectable third and the cheekpieces go on for the first time to help him concentrate more with his mark looking attractive now.

Back to his best when winning at Market Rasen in October off a mark of 120. Not disgraced in three starts since with one of the runs coming around this course and often travels well in his races (can find little off the bridle) and given a chance here although his weak finishing effort can be a worry.

Makes his debut here for a new yard having finished on a winning note over hurdles for his old one. Won on his chasing debut and only had two subsequent starts over fences (both placed) and off a decent mark here if fit enough coming back from a break.

Made a winning start over fences showing far better form over them than he had over hurdles and followed up with another win off the same mark. Shaped far better than the bare result when pulled-up at Doncaster last time and still has potential over fences.

Stable are badly in need of a winner and this one has yet to win in three starts over fences and remains a maiden overall. Yet to match his best form over hurdles and faces so decent rivals here and looks to have a stiff task.

Forecasts

Twojayslad (5/2), Roc D'Apsis (3/1), Capard King (7/2), Opening Batsman (7/1), By The Boardwalk (8/1), According To Harry (12/1), Jonagold (18/1)

Verdict

Several of these have been capable of better form in the past like Opening Batsman and Capard King and it would not surprise if either of those showed up well here. Roc D’Apsis deserves to win a race and generally runs well here but he can make mistakes and that hampers his chance while By The Boardwalk often promises more than he actually delivers. All of that leaves TWOJAYSLAD as the one to side with even though he was pulled-up last time out he still shaped well with the yard in good form he still looks to have plenty to offer over fences.
  1. Twojayslad
  2. Roc D'apsis
  3. Capard King
