Definite signs of promise on debut at Southwell last year, staying on steadily to claim fourth, but less encouragement to be taken from his two hurdles efforts to date. Needs this for a handicap mark and may be of more interest then.
Almost won an incident-packed novice hurdle at Plumpton last November, then penny dropping late on and failing to get up by a neck, but a poor effort on soft ground at Carlisle the month after. Back on better ground here so not totally discounted.
Useful for Andrew Oliver on the flat in Ireland, rated in the 80's at his peak and capable of good class handicap form. Has also shown plenty of ability in three starts over hurdles and if ready to go for new yard, would hold a leading chance under likely ideal conditions.
Has already shown a good level of form over hurdles, winning easily at Uttoxeter and following up with a solid effort at Newbury latest. May have to face quicker ground here but that aside, holds a decent chance. Due to run at Fontwell yesterday.
The best of these on the flat, rated in the 90's for Ed Dunlop and capable of classy handicap form around 10f. Hasn't set the world alight in two hurdles starts but not disgraced last time, and seems to be learning as he goes along. May be one for handicaps after today, but still worth consideration here.
Poor form in three runs for a yard that's out of form at present. Needs the first-time tongue tie to have a major effect.
Poor on the flat and has barely beaten a horse home in any of his last six starts. Hurdling technique leaves plenty to be desired as well, and can't be considered.
Glimmers of ability on hurdles debut at Wincanton at the beginning of last month, enough to suggest she might pick a small race up somewhere down the line, but this looks too hard at this stage.
Some ability shown in two bumpers and a hurdle so far, but will need to jump better than she did on her debut at Warwick to get involved here. Too much to prove at the moment.
Poor on the flat and there are stamina doubts about her on her hurdles debut today. No realistic chance of getting involved here.
Forecasts
I'll Be Your Clown (11/8), Quids In (7/4), Scrutinise (7/1), Bubsy Burbidge (7/1), Bomber Command (12/1), Lerichi Belle (16/1), Kohuma (100/1), Subtle Soldier (125/1), Sayedaati Saadati (200/1), Seamoor Secret (250/1)
The interesting one is I'LL BE YOUR CLOWN, thought good enough to chance his arm in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown three seasons ago and still seemed to retain his ability when last seen. He looks an ideal summer jumper type and can get off the mark for his new yard. Scrutinise, like so many Tim Vaughan novice hurdlers, seems to be progressing as he learns to jump and can give the selection most to think about. Quids In and Bubsy Burbidge can fight it out for the minor medal.
- I'll Be Your Clown
- Scrutinise
- Bubsy Burbidge
