Returns to hurdles having recently been showing good form over the larger obstacles. Could be on a lenient handicap mark in this sphere on the basis of his recent performances and is one for the shortlist here.
Has been slightly disappointing recently but a third place finish at Wexford last month was much more like it. Can't be totally discounted here.
Exposed gelding who has finished out of the places on all of his four most recent starts, and so looks an unlikely winner of this. Tongue strap applied for the first time.
Returns to hurdles after an attempt at a handicap chase at Limerick last time (3m, heavy), resulted in a midfield finish. Interesting in first time cheek pieces and tongue strap.
Has shown excellent form recently, including a win in a 15-runner handicap at Punchestown last time. Goes up 9lb for that which seems a little harsh given he only won by a head, but another bold big is expected.
Hasn't won a hurdle race since May 2012 and in all probability this looks to beyond him now. Others rate more likely winners.
Fell at the third hurdle over C&D when last seen in February. Would have a good chance here if managing to find the best of her previous form on ground that she should enjoy.
0/16 in his career across both hurdles and chases, having been seemingly outclassed on almost all his starts. Should be brushed aside by most of these once again.
0/5 under rules but is lightly raced with improvement very likely for some top connections, though he is the owners' second string based on jockey bookings.
C&D winner two starts ago who took advantage of a lenient chase mark to double up at Limerick last time. Returns to hurdles here off a career high mark, but she will enjoy the conditions.
Hasn't shown much on seven starts over hurdles so far but remains with some top connections who are clearly keeping the faith, so improvement could be on the way. Looks to be the owners' first string on jockey bookings.
Won here over slightly shorter back in January and has run pleasingly enough since then to suggest that she could remain competitive here, but a step forward of sorts would be needed.
Forecasts
Oscar Knight (3/1), Perfect Man (7/2), Optimised (5/1), Emma Beag (8/1), Swift (9/1), Pause And Ponder (9/1), Monastic (11/1), Seskinane (16/1), Nobody Home (16/1), Toubaloo (20/1), Go Forty Go (25/1), Archie Meade (33/1)
Perfect Man has been in fine form recently, winning two decent looking handicaps with more possibly to come given his age and profile, while Toubaloo has good form in the book and could have a say, especially if first time headgear does the trick. Preference though, is for OSCAR KNIGHT. This talented performer switches back to hurdles having put in some impressive performances over fences, including when beating subsequent dual-Grade 3 winner Ball D'Arc. He has to defy top weight here, but that could still be lenient given what he's achieved in chases.
- Oscar Knight
- Perfect Man
- Toubaloo
