Beat a pair of 115 rated horses at Ludlow last time. That suggests there is a huge gap between him and his main rivals in this. His rider's claim reduces the deficit as will any improvement for the longer trip. Stable are 6-22 with hurdlers here.

Useful Flat performer who ran at Pattern level. Sprang a 33/1 surprise on his hurdling debut at Huntingdon when beating Burbank (rated 140) and Top Tug (rated 130). Has not jumped well in top company since. The better ground will help as will the longer trip. Stable have been in form on the Flat recently.

Verdict

The form book would suggest this is a clear match between BENATAR and Glaring. The former is a C&D winner who has a BHA rating of 130. He won a minor race here before running well in the Sidney Banks Novices Hurdle at Huntingdon against much stronger opposition. He came up against the useful Le Breuil next time at Newbury where he was clear of the third. The stable are in better form now than at any time since the turn of the year and he is taken to add to their recent haul. A literal interpretation of Glaring's Huntingdon win would give him a much higher rating than the selection. It is likely though that the second and third have improved considerably since then. He is prone to errors and that tilts things in favour of the selection. Brave Eagle may have further wins in him but he has plenty to find on form. His stable continue to pump out winners and that earns him respect but he needs to find the best part of a stone to trouble the principals here.
