Pulled up, reportedly with a broken blood vessel last time out at Lingfield, having accrued some decent form in hurdles races prior to that. Form on the Flat is nothing particularly impressive though, and with the injury from last time to overcome after a relatively short break, she's best watched here.

Formerly a performer at a much higher level than this but has been regressive of late, last striking in a Class 2 conditions race at Kempton in March 2014. One of the more exposed runners here nowadays and would need to return to his form of the past to figure here.

C&D winner who has looked held by the handicapper on his most recent form, and usually needs the run after a break away from the track, so others hold more convincing claims on this occasion.

Returns to the Flat after a relatively unremarkable hurdling debut at Ludlow in February. This is his first appearance on Tapeta in a career that has not yet seen a win, though he is lightly raced for his age, so there he should be able to build on some solid races he's run in defeat.

Has show fairly tame form recently, but it's very interesting here to see him step up half a mile in trip, especially given he ran possibly the worst race of his career over 1m2f. Clearly connections think there is more to come over intermediate trips.

Inconsistent sort who has gone close in some better races than this while also underperforming in others. A tame appearance when last of all on her Tapeta debut over a similar trip at Newcastle last time out does little to encourage enthusiasm.

One of the more experienced runners in the field, having gone on a good run last summer in some similar level handicaps before struggling in all-weather events over the winter. Work to do with Ravens Quest, who beat him by 6¾ lengths over C&D two starts ago.

C&D winner two starts ago, and is 5lb higher than for that effort here. Didn't perform badly over a trip that may be a little too far for him last time out, and should run another big race here.

Unlucky when narrowly beaten over two furlongs further at this course two days ago. Just failed to get home that day and so this should be perfect for him, especially given he's allowed to race off the same mark.

Forecasts

Shamash (13/8), Ravens Quest (9/2), Lexington Law (6/1), Castilo Del Diablo (6/1), Byres Road (15/2), Viewpoint (16/1), Renfrew Street (20/1), The Gay Cavalier (33/1), Precision Five (150/1)

Verdict

As long as he turns up after a hard race here two days go, SHAMASH should take all the beating here. A very close and slightly unlucky second on that occasion he drops back down to a more suitable trip having won with something in hand here earlier in the month. He looks to be improving and somehow has the lowest weight to carry here. Ravens Quest could give him most to think about, having won over C&D two starts ago. He goes up 5lb for that but he's entitled to be able to overcome that, while Lexington Law, returning from a debut spin over hurdles, could build on some good recent performances to fill the places.
  1. Shamash
  2. Ravens Quest
  3. Lexington Law
