Refused to race on debut at Towcester last month, but consented to do so at Kempton next time when again showing temperament before the off and running green. Need to see him take the preliminaries better.
Runner-up in three successive bumpers on good to soft or soft and would not be winning one out of turn. Half-brother to five winners, including one in a bumper. If improving he would be a contender again, although clearly vulnerable to a newcomer or improver.

Won a maiden point-to-point on debut in November before changing hands for £65,000 at the December sales. First start under rules here. Dam a half-sister to several winners of hurdles and chases in France from 2m up to 3m3f. Interesting from a yard that does well in this sphere.
Ran second in a Roscommon bumper in the autumn and changed yards since. Dam was an unraced half-sister to the very smart bumper/2m hurdle winner Spirit Leader and stable, whose strike rate in this discipline is 13% had a bumper winner this week. Short-listed.

Cost €60,000 last year and is out of a half-sister to 2m3f-3m2f hurdle and chase winner Gysart and bumper/hurdle/chase winner Tribal Dancer. Another yard whose win rate is just 7% in bumpers, but has plenty that run into the frame. Interesting debutant.

Debutant who hails from a yard among the winners. Half-brother to French 2m3f chase winner and to a bumper-placed runner. Out of a hurdles/chase-placed half-sister to useful James de Vassy, hurdle winner at 2m-2m2f.
Half-brother to prolific French hurdle/chase winner Safre (2m1f-3m). Showed little on her debut at Huntingdon in November but has been given time before this return to the track and should be able to improve.

Forecasts

Whiskey In The Jar (2/1), Puppet Warrior (9/4), Rambling Rector (5/2), Cloth Cap (7/1), Jersey Bean (12/1), Samburu Shujaa (16/1), Lygon Rock (16/1), Corzeam (16/1), Saint De Vassy (22/1), Arthur's Reuben (25/1)

Verdict

Cloth Cap is perhaps the most interesting of the newcomers in this and should go well, while others of note look to be Rambling Rector and Lygon Rock. However, experience often counts in these contests and WHISKEY IN THE JAR has seen a racecourse and can improve on his debut to win, while Puppet Warrior is not ruled out but again looks vulnerable.
  1. Whiskey In The Jar
  2. Cloth Cap
  3. Rambling Rector
