Wide margin point-to-point winner on good ground. Yet to race under similar conditions under rules and has shown only modest ability. Continues to drop in the weights and ought to be capable of more than has been evident. Stable are without a winer since July.

Maiden point-to-point winner in November. Had shown little under rules until dropped into a seller and visored for the first time. This is not a strong race but consistency is not a strong suit.

Has good enough point-to-point form to suggest he can land this. Has been highly tried in novice chases this year and has earned an attractive handicap mark. Stable do well here but their current form is a concern (three fancied horses pulled up last week).

Had Duhallowcountry 33L behind when scoring at Hexham last June. Ran well over C&D next time before suffering a loss of form. Has claims if returning fresh and ready from a three month break.

Only two victories in 41 starts have come in the same Sedgfield race. Front runner who performs to a consistent level and hails from a yard going well at the moment. Young jockey is enjoying an excellent season. Others look better treated but none arrive in better form.

Age: 9|  Weight: 10-5| J: L P Aspell| T: J R Jenkins| OR:  77

Winning point-to-pointer showed some promise in 2015 of much higher marks than this. Has had three runs back from an absence which saw him miss the whole of 2015. One to note in the market following an improved display last time and a further drop in the weights.

Heavenly Promise28
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-5| J: Lee Edwards| T: J Groucott| OR:  77
9/1
Best run over hurdles came in a first time hood which has only been worn once since. Stable had been out of form until producing a winner on Saturday. Looks hard to recommend.

The Society Man111
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Mr Garry Lavery(7)| T: M C Chapman| OR:  66
50/1
Sole victory in 64 starts came in 2012. Hard to recommend from 6lb out of the handicap and over a trip that looks too short.

Forecasts

The Wexfordian (2/1), Gorran Haven (5/1), Blackwood Rover (11/2), Nobel Leader (6/1), Miss Conway (8/1), Heavenly Promise (9/1), Duhallowcountry (9/1), The Society Man (50/1)

Verdict

BLACKWOOD ROVER rates the pick in a weak contest. He ran some excellent races in defeat in 2015 and is racing off a mark several pounds lower. His latest outing saw him run well until lack of stamina took it's toll. John Jenkins' charge is dropped in distance and will be fitter for that run. Duhallowcountry is held by Miss Conway on last season's form. The veteran will arrive here in better condition than Mark Walford's mare although a market move for her would be interesting.
  1. Blackwood Rover
  2. Duhallowcountry
  3. Miss Conway
