Rated 97 at his best but that was a long time in the past and his decline has been steady. Long absence combined with the fact he finished last on his only other previous visit to Wolverhampton conspire against him. One to be wary of under topweight.
Represents a shrewd operation but the gelding's two previous visits to this course have yielded very little in the way of a return. Hard to fancy for win only purposes just now.
Back on a winning mark after spending the last seven months in the handicapping wilderness, but needs to prove he is not just on the downward spiral. Gets on well with today's rider and is drawn well, so plenty going for him if he is in the right frame of mind.
Comes here on the back of three poor efforts during the AW season. Dropped a further 3lb but still has plenty to prove at present. Visor may help but others preferred.
Mainly consistent and likes this course - won a better race than this over C&D last April and has sound claims from a 4lb lower mark. A leading contender in this company.
A course specialist with 8 course wins (mainly at this trip) to his name. Has a bit to find with John Caesar and Mayfield Boy, but the Dunstall Park factor may bring them closer together this time around.
The fact that he is still a maiden after 21 previous attempts tells its own story, Claims only on the very pick of his form and one for the brave only.
One of the lesser lights to carry his owner's colours and hard to see him adding to his tally given his recent level of form. Last won off a 3lb higher mark but off-putting that he has yet to get his head in front on an AW surface.
Gelded last year and his four subsequent starts have been poor to say the least. Also has plenty to prove with Outlaw Torn judging by their recent encounter here. Best just watched.
A dual C&D winner, he has claims on the pick of his form. Had Powered well held last time out and should be capable of upholding that form at least. Can be inconsistent, though. So makes limited appeal for win only purposes.
1-from-3 on the AW at Dundalk but has yet to win a handicap even though she has dropped to a very handy mark. Her yard did have a winner over hurdles last week, but her long absence has to be a concern.
9lb lower in the handicap but its been a long time since his solitary raid on Wolverhampton prize-money. His form in Ireland does compare well for this grade, though. One to monitor carefully in the betting.

Voice of A Leader (5/1), Monna Valley (5/1), Filament Of Gold (11/2), Powered (6/1), Mosman (6/1), John Caesar (8/1), Frap (12/1), Outlaw Torn (16/1), Cosmic Ray (16/1), Castanea (16/1), Lemon Thyme (28/1), Mayfield Boy (50/1), Balmont Belle (100/1)
The well treated JOHN CESAR has held his form well and, given that he won a much better race than this from a 4lb higher mark last season, he has solid claims of gaining some reward for his consistency on these terms. Outlaw Torn can never be ruled out at what is his favourite course, so merits respect as a contender for a place at least. As does Monna Valley, who is also on an attractive looking mark. Support for Irish raiders: Balmont Belle and Mosman would cloud the picture though.
- John Caesar
- Outlaw Torn
