Looked beaten when coming down three fences from the finish at Ascot last time out, having been sent off favourite. That was a Listed race so naturally this is a much easier assignment, but he will still need a better showing than he put up last time.
Last time out winner when justifying odds-on favouritism to beat a small field at Towcester. Had previously found himself outclassed in graded company over hurdles earlier in the season, but he remains unexposed over fences and is again the one to beat here.
Has looked outclassed on every start under rules so far having shown some good form in point to point races. Pulled up in a similar race to this at Newbury last time, but perhaps a first time visor will help him this time.
Winning point to pointer who was well beaten on debut over hurdles at Warwick last month. Should have more to offer over fences given where he's come from, but he's still liable to be outclassed in novice company.
Has failed to get off the mark over fences so far but has run some nice races in defeat, including when beaten only 6¼L in a competitive race at Taunton last time (2m7f, good). This looks easier and he should be involved near the finish.
Forecasts
Chef D'Oeuvre (6/5), Sir Ivan (11/8), Shelford (11/2), Orchardstown Cross (25/1), Have A Go Hero (33/1)
Stepping down in class after a disappointing performance in Listed company last time, CHEF D'OEUVRE has a great chance in this if putting last times disappointment behind him. He was beaten when coming down three out in that race at Ascot but he was so impressive when romping to victory at this course the time before that it is impossible to ignore his chance. If he blows out again, Shelford could pick up the pieces, having won well at Towcester last time out, while Orchardstown Cross put in a tame showing on his debut under rules at Warwick last time but there should be plenty more to come now he's switched to the larger obstacles.
- Chef D'oeuvre
- Shelford
- Orchardstown Cross
