Ex-Irish point-to-point winner who slogged through the Ayr mud to beat Craiganboy (now rated 111) in a 2m5f hurdle last March. Has had two runs over fences back from a layoff and, with the stable in form (5-19 last 14 days), improvement is to be expected.
Winner of four hurdles but yet to trouble the judge over fences. Last run came in a race which is not working out well. Well treated judged on hurdling form but others are preferred.
Winner of a poor race at Perth last autumn and third in another modest affair here in November. Tailed off on his last start and has been given a break since. Talented rider booked for this Irish raider but otherwise the case is weak.
Winning point-to-pointer who has improved for the fitting of cheekpieces. These are left off here for his first run in four months. Winner here in November and the runner-up won his next two starts. Steps up in distance and that should be a plus. Trainer 11-49 at this course over past five seasons and rider is 7-52 over fences.
Made all to score at Hexham last May. Has disappointed on softer ground since. Off the track for eight months and market will tell us more about his fitness. Trainer and jockey have struck up a good partnership of late.
Won once in 25 outings under rules and had failed to complete in five starts prior to two heavy defeats recently. Jockey having a good season with 18 winners but unlikely that tally will be increased.
Forecasts
John Williams (15/8), Shanroe Street (3/1), Rev Up Ruby (4/1), Heart O Annandale (11/2), Mollies Gent (10/1), Oscar Lateen (16/1)
It is a worry that the cheekpieces have not been declared for JOHN WILLIAMS. Nevertheless, his victory here in November over a dual subsequent winner is the best piece of form in a race that will not take much winning. Shanroe Street represents a yard that are going well at present and has a good 8lb claimer on board. Two runs back from an absence should have him spot on for this and the trip should bring out the best in him. Rev Up Ruby has yet to reproduce her hurdling form over fences. She has an able rider on board and a further 3lb drop in the weights may make her more competitive.
