Very busy at Meydan since the turn of the year, running credibly in some top contests. Entitled to go well back around here, is on a long losing sequence but remains competitive.
Successful for leading British trainer on sole previous attempt over this C&D and, despite being off since August, is greatly respected with top rider booked.
Very smart performer on his day, Royal Ascot winner, held in two AW runs recently and not certain to be suited by a trip as sharp as this one.
Smart colt won three of first six starts and two runs last year were in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and a Curragh Group 3. Dangerous to write him off on AW debut.
Run fair races in pair of handicaps here since joining this trainer, including this trip last month when beaten under 2L. Clearly needs more to best some of these rivals.
Good winner of C&D handicap in November on previous outing, entitled to win that contest but will have to improve to add to it here.
Mare has some smart form including a Listed win on turf and claimed the scalp of Fire Fighting at Epsom in 2015. First run since October but should be prominent here.
Forecasts
Fire Fighting (5/4), Sanus Per Aquam (9/2), Elbereth (11/2), Elleval (7/1), Stronger Than Me (8/1), Pique Sous (12/1), Shalaman (20/1)
This has the makings of a cracking contest, with British raiders Fire Fighting and Elbereth adding real intrigue to a field that already included a quintet of interesting home contenders. With Smullen up, the talented Fire Fighting ought to give this a bold showing and he is respected having won on his only previous visit here. The filly Elbereth has beaten him before and was not disgraced in an Italian Group 1 when last seen while she gets a very helpful 2lb from the boys in this. Stronger Than Me and Shalaman may need to step up to figure while the consistent Elleval finds winning hard. Pique Sous is talented but has to prove this trip will suit and so the nod goes to SANUS PER AQUAM for Jim Bolger. He was highly-tried in two runs last year and remains open to plenty progress as a four-year-old. Clearly a very talented son of Teofilo, he has enough about him to make a winning AW bow.

- Fire Fighting
- Elbereth
