No issues over fitness having run well in 2m handicap hurdle at Leopardstown this month, reached a decent level in that sphere and should have his chance if taking to this surface.

Eight-race maiden, didn't show all that much in two recent AW spins but this more searching test of stamina may elicit better form.

Didn't appear to relish the AW on first start in January, that came over 1m4f and this step up in trip should be in his favour. Potentially may do better from prime draw.

Promising bumper/hurdles winner in 2014, then spent a spell on the sidelines. Essentially a bit disappointing in three runs for this yard last year over hurdles/fences but could be competitive now if taking to the AW.

Lightly-raced gelding has looked below his best in two outings last year. Last spotted in valuable 2m handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse in December. First AW outing, has a chance with top jockey booked.

Gone close in two AW outings, over 1m2f and then dropped to the mile. Markedly up in trip for this, he has run over the trip before though must prove he genuinely wants this far.
Been out of form over hurdles of late, though did run with some promise over 1m4f here in November, not discounted.

Filly has been off the track since July, showed little in five turf outings to merit consideration for this contest and must prove stamina for 2m trip.

Narrowly beaten on debut at this track in July over 1m2f, before running well for a long way on turf at Killarney in August. Since left Dermot Weld, first run for new trainer and one for the shortlist.

Forecasts

St Stephens Green (5/4), The Invisible Dog (11/4), Zamira (11/2), Kalopsia (7/1), Eight Till Late (8/1), Sheamus (18/1), Polish Partisan (28/1), Nulife (33/1), Turasoir (66/1)

Verdict

Lightly-raced filly Zamira is interesting coming here off a break on first start for these connections and definitely must be given a chance of improving on her two runs to date. In truth, as many as six of the field can be given some form of a claim, with many needing to prove their liking for the surface. Nulife may find this 2m test more to his liking while similar sentiments are attached to Polish Partisan on his second AW outing. Kalopsia shaped well enough over shorter here in November though has been out of form over jumps since. St Stephen Green is worth a check in the market on AW debut while Sheamus would take front rank on his early form but comes with risks now. The vote goes to EIGHT TILL LATE who reached a decent level over sticks and is sure to be fit having run well enough at Leopardstown this month in a handicap hurdle over this trip.
  1. Eight Till Late
  2. Zamira
  3. Kalopsia
