Third foal of a dam who won over 2m7f-3m1f. Full use was made of that stamina last time but looked short of pace once headed. Stable are struggling for winners at present.
Half-brother to three winners, Jaunty Journey, Jaunty Flight and JauntyTimes. Yard sprang a 66/1 surprise in a similar race earlier this month.
Finished clear of the third last time when chasing home a smart prospect from Harry Fry's yard. This looks a better opportunity to get off the mark, although yard have a career record of only 22-171 (for a loss of 58 points to level stakes) in this type of race.
£44,000 buy at Cheltenham in April 2015. The form of his Irish point-to-point is hard to evaluate. Failed to produce the goods at Kempton last month when sent off a well backed favourite for his bumper debut. That was a race which the yard have targeted previously with highly regarded types. A hood is now fitted having run too freely that day and the yard are 8-21 in bumpers here.
£25,000 buy as a three-year-old and is the first foal of a dam who was unplaced in a bumper. Stable are without a winner in 2017.
Forecasts
Or De Vassy (5/4), Whatswrongwithyou (11/4), Crucial Role (3/1), Bridge of Cally (7/1), Jaunty Flyer (20/1)
Whatswrongwithyou was clearly expected to show more at Kempton last time but proved a major disappointment. He may have run too freely that day and a hood is fitted by Nicky Henderson who has an excellent record in bumpers at this track. He may well prove that run to be all wrong but he faces a a more straightforward rival here who represents a good yardstick. OR DE VASSY was runner at Towcester to a rival who ran in the Champion bumper last week and then found a previous winner too good at Taunton. He was 10L clear of the third that day and that suggests makes him the one to beat. Crucial Role looks a better option to make the frame than either of the newcomers.
