Was still running a little green when getting off the mark at Exeter last time (2m1f, good to soft). There are more unknown quantities in this field but a replication of that form should be good enough to put her in the mix.

Outran huge odds on hurdling debut at Exeter last time, but was still beaten 21L by Cascaye. Big ask to reverse that form but she remains very unexposed, and there could be plenty more to come.

Has only had one horse behind her on three starts, including two in novice/maiden hurdles. Has shown little on any of those starts and a massive step forward would be required here for her to even be in with a chance of placing.
Runner-up in a pair of low grade bumpers last year but has failed to make the step up in that sphere when well beaten in Listed company at Cheltenham. Found her first assignment over hurdles equally difficult, when beaten 94L at Warwick earlier in the month (2m, soft). Entitled to come on for that run, but will need to.

Found only one two good in her final start in a bumper at Limerick and has since moved to her current trainer. Makes her first start for him today and seems to carry some of the more convincing form on offer into the race. One for the shortlist in a first time hood.
Well beaten on hurdling debut earlier this month, when showing a couple of issues with her jumping. This is an easier task but she is still liable to find one or two of these rivals too good.

Multiple winner on the Flat in low grade contests who was an eye-catching fifth on hurdling debut at Newbury earlier in the month (2m½f, soft). Probably would have finished even closer than 6L behind the winner if not making jumping errors and she should go well in a first time tongue tie.

Outpaced on hurdling debut at Exeter (2m1f, soft) in what should prove to be a similar quality contest to this. Place claims if improving for that run, but will probably lack the class to challenge for big money once again.

Finished just ahead of stablemate Phoenix Firebird on their respective hurdling debuts at Exeter last time out. They look closely matched on all known form, and that form brings them below the level required to win this, even with improvement likely.

Probably the most exposed of all of these, and has shown herself to be some way short of the quality required to win a novice event such as this. Was pulled up on handicap debut at Exeter last time (2m1f, soft), and so returns to a novice option today.

Forecasts

Cascaye (5/2), Smaoineamh Alainn (3/1), Multigifted (3/1), Phoenix Firebird (17/2), Sapphire Noire (9/1), Drewmain Legend (20/1), Make My Heart Fly (20/1), Macca's Stowaway (33/1), Spanish Queen (100/1), Flight To Nowhere (200/1)

Verdict

The only one of these to have won a race over hurdles, CASCAYE holds the stand-out piece of form with her win last time out at Exeter, and looks to still have plenty of improvement in her. As long as she proves she can handle what are likely to be testing conditions, she can defy a penalty in a field where many simply don't look up to winning a non-handicap novice event. Multigifted looks the most likely to upset the selection, given her fair form in low quality races on the Flat and her eye-catching run on debut, where jumping errors stopped her finishing even closer to the winner. Smaoineamh Alainn seemed to be improving all through several starts in bumpers and looks to be the next best option on her hurdling debut.
  1. Cascaye
  2. Multigifted
  3. Smaoineamh Alainn
