Won in open handicap company last time at Catterick over slightly shorter, shaping that day as if a couple of additional furlongs would play to his strengths. Goes up 5lb for that last win, but the ground should be fine and he wears a first time tongue tie.
Pulled up last time at Exeter having made mistakes with his jumping, though his fourth to subsequent Betbright Chase winner Pilgrims Bay at Sandown (2m4f, good) the time before is good form, especially as that was his chasing debut. Player if replicating that performance off 6lb less.
Has been thereabouts on most of his starts for his current trainer, including when a good second on chase debut at Ludlow last time (2m, good to soft). Couldn't quicken to catch the leader that day, but could be worth another go off the same mark.
Pulled up on chase debut at Ludlow last time out which is hardly encouraging, though she had some form over hurdles in France. Still seems an unlikely winner of this, though the talented young jockey booked is a bonus with his 3lb claim.
Hat-trick seeker who has won impressively in slightly lesser races than this the last twice at Plumpton and Lingfield. Looks progressive and should find a more competitive race no issue, the concern would be that the ground could prove too soft for him to be at his most effective.
Seems to have had trouble with his higher weight since going up 8lb for a Sandown win in December. Mark is gradually working its way back down after some forgettable performances, including when well beaten in an easier contest than this last time at Southwell.
Was on a good run this time last year before pulling up on his final start of the season at Southwell. Hasn't quite been the same force this term, perhaps on account of his age, but it's not impossible that he could rediscover that form off an appealingly low mark.

Mr Medic (11/4), Lou Vert (4/1), A Little Magic (4/1), Jaboltiski (4/1), Moscow Me (8/1), Back By Midnight (9/1), Helium (12/1), Bise D'estruval (20/1)
Mr Medic looks the obvious starting point for this race with his two very impressive wins on his last two starts. He's a horse that seems to be quickly on the improve, and will need to be to overcome an 11lb rise. The concern isn't the weight he has to carry though, it's the fact that all his best form is on better ground than we're likely to get today. On that basis, the suggestion is A LITTLE MAGIC, who seems versatile ground wise and should enjoy the additional distance of this race compared to his hard fought success last time. Jaboltiski also looks interesting if repeating the performance that saw him finish fourth to the quirky but talented Betbright Chase winner Pilgrim's Bay at Sandown in December.
