4/5
C&D winner on hurdling debut who was only narrowly beaten by Lough Derg Spirit in a much tougher contest at Musselburgh last time (1m6½f, good). Holds the outstanding claims on form and there should be plenty more to come.

Returns to novice company having been well beaten on handicap debut here last time. Showed a good turn of foot to win at Exeter in November and this looks easier on paper. He has the assistance of a top jockey once again and should be a big player.

Disappointed when beaten at odds-on at Doncaster earlier in the month but he made mistakes and bumped into a runaway winner. Here he returns to a distance similar to the one he won his bumper over in December and he should be thereabouts if improving his jumping.
Has failed to complete his two starts under rules, first when pulling up at Exeter on debut on New Years Day and then falling at the third flight at Wincanton earlier this month. Difficult to tell on that basis if he has come on for that first run, but he would definitely rate a surprise winner here.

Has done most of his racing on the Flat, making only his third start over hurdles today. Was well beaten on debut in this sphere in a selling contest at Worcester in May 2014 before unseating when looking beaten over slightly further here a couple of weeks ago. Plenty more needed in first time headgear.

20/1
Fair performer on the Flat who switches to to hurdles for the first time today, winning at Lingfield when last seen in January. Though he doesn't have an obvious jumps pedigree, his sire does have a fair strike rate with his progeny who have been sent over hurdles.

Started racing very late in life which suggests she may have had her problems, and her form so far backs that up, having been beaten 58L on her only completed start. First time tongue tie seems unlikely to make the difference.

Status Quo56
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-7| J: Kieron Edgar(3)| T: H Fry
16/1
Fair Flat performer who was pulled up on his first start over hurdles, though he raced very keenly that day. Not totally out of it if he switches off better, now that he has the experience of a run under his belt.

Forecasts

High Secret (4/5), Boagrius (5/2), Resolution Bay (5/2), Smaoineamh Alainn (10/1), Status Quo (16/1), Enmeshing (20/1), Thahab Ifraj (25/1), Treasure The Ridge (50/1), Merchant In Milan (150/1), Fleur Du Weld (150/1)

Verdict

On form, this should be between Resolution Bay and HIGH SECRET. The former impressed when winning over a similar distance at Exeter in November, and may have had his stamina stretched when fading quickly over slightly further here last time. The second named, though, shades preference due to his close third behind Lough Derg Spirit and Peter the Mayo Man at Musselburgh last time. That race that is the stand-out piece of form and is working out well with the runner-up (who beat the selection by less than a length that day) finishing a good third in a Grade 2 next time. Boagrius could be next best if putting last time's disappointment behind him.
  1. High Secret
  2. Resolution Bay
  3. Boagrius
