Found things a bit hot in 3m Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time, previously had registered career-best to win valuable handicap at that track over 2m4f. Suited by this trip and should have big say for in-form trainer.

Formerly a very smart chaser, returns from a long layoff and previous efforts over hurdles at Punchestown only fair. Interesting to see what unfolds now back jumping fences but fitness must be a concern.

Well beaten off in four-runner Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park last month (beat 73L). Drops from Graded company now so entitled to have designs on bouncing back and weighted to turn previous form around with Nearly Nama'd.

In flying form to win valuable handicaps either side of Christmas, both over 2m1f. Beat Mozoltov just over 4L in the second of them at Fairyhouse but off level weights now it could be a different tale. Well held in Listed chase at Thurles in January 2m2f on most recent outing.

Not seen since the Galway Plate in July, it's hard to know how much of the old ability remains after a testing time of it. At his best he'd surely take care of these.

Forecasts

A Toi Phil (6/5), The Tullow Tank (13/8), Nearly Nama'd (13/2), Mozoltov (8/1), Double Seven (20/1)

Verdict

A couple of these are under clouds, namely The Tullow Tank and Double Seven. The latter has looked well below his best in two outings over hurdles when last seen and is now back chasing after a year off. The Tullow Tank would be formidable in this field at his best but two runs last year raised big questions on how much of the old ability remains. Nearly Nama'd took care of Mozoltov in a valuable handicap at Fairyhouse in January but could struggle to repeat the trick on these terms. However, A TOI PHIL may come out best. He powered home to snare a big pot at Leopardstown in January and ought to be more at home now removed from the choppy waters of Grade 1 company. The youngest in the line-up, he may still be improving and can take this prize.
  1. A Toi Phil
  2. Mozoltov
  3. Nearly Nama'd
