Has been struggling at a higher level than this recently and drops in class as a result. Has to contend with top weight in this company but is versatile in terms of ground and trip.
Returns to hurdles having run well in a novice chase two starts ago before being well beaten in a Haydock Grade 2 last time behind some classy sorts. There could be more to come returning to the smaller obstacles.
Has fallen the last twice but was still going well on both those occasions on top of a win at Uttoxeter in December (2m, soft). Cheek pieces are applied which could help and he looks a big player if staying on his feet.
French import who was a much more encouraging third at Taunton last time out (2m½f, soft) and looks set to build on that performance. First time tongue tie and cheek pieces should help, and he remains on the same handicap mark.
Former Flat horse in France who has performed poorly on two starts over hurdles so far. Dropped 4lb from his last run but needs to find plenty more to get competitive here.
Beaten 25L by Diego Du Charmil in Listed contest at Musselburgh last time and steps down in class here having come within a short head of victory in similar company at Fontwell in December. 1lb higher than for that run and looks to be a big player.
Kept on well to win at Exeter last time and goes up only 3lb for that convincing, if narrow victory. Probably the least open to improvement of any of these, and was well beaten by Applesandpierres at Uttoxeter in December.
Forecasts
Cool Sky (2/1), Solatentif (7/2), Caid Du Lin (9/2), Curious Carlos (8/1), Fort Carson (17/2), Applesandpierres (10/1), Loup De Louve (12/1)
This is a relatively competitive looking handicap hurdle where many have a fair chance despite the relatively small field. If Applesandpierres can get his jumping together he has to rate a big danger given how well he has been going when falling the last twice, while Solatentif returns to hurdles having run well in a novice chase recently and can go well. But COOL SKY, not disgraced in a hot Listed contest last time, went very close in a similar race off only 1lb lower in December and looks the best handicapped of these with trip and ground set to suit.
- Cool Sky
- Applesandpierres
- Solatentif
