Pulled up in each of three most recent starts, but they were tougher races than this, including the Thyestes Chase. Has also been behind subsequent Coral Cup winner Supersundae this season and acts very well on softer ground.
Unseated his rider last time when still in touch, and has run well on softer ground in the past. Needs to overcome a big weight but this trip should be perfect and the jockey claims a useful 7lb.
Showed his class when chasing home Douvan in a Grade 2 at Punchestown two starts ago, before disappointing in heavy ground at Thurles last time. Similar ground would be a mild concern but he could be the class act in the field.
Was going well enough when falling last time out at Punchestown, and has the profile of a high quality hurdler. The drop back in trip is a slight concern, though he's won over shorter before, as all his best recent form is over further.
Has had an interrupted career having moved trainers several times but showed he has plenty of ability with a game victory at Leopardstown last time (2m5f, good), and the ground shouldn't be an issue.
Has finished nowhere on every start this season, though some of those were top races, including a Grade 2 won by Douvan. This is obviously a step down in class, but much more will be needed for a first win since May 2015.
Veteran who shows he still retains some of his old ability with a taking win at Punchestown in January. Is still higher in the handicap than then despite two subsequent defeats, but the step down in trip could help.
Has lost his way since coming out on top in a Grade C handicap over a year ago, but his handicap mark has gone down accordingly. May have lost some of his ability with age but has to be feared on previous form.
Unseated when going well enough in a race won by Katnap last time but had good form before that, with a first and a second in easier races than this. Not out of it despite having been raised a fair way in the weights.
Has been running poorly of late but came into his own at this point last season, when off an almost identical handicap mark. One for the shortlist here.
Showed he still retained ability when beaten only half a length at Limerick on Boxing Day. Hasn't won since a maiden hurdle at Naas over two years ago but these conditions could be the key to his success.
Returned after a long absence for a spell on the point to point scene, starting with a win but seemed regressive after that and would look to be up against it here.
Forecasts
The Crafty Butcher (7/2), Katnap (6/1), Lisclogher Lad (13/2), Kilford (7/1), The Paparrazi Kid (8/1), Some Drama (10/1), Aughnacurraveel (10/1), Realt Mor (10/1), Canaly (11/1), Courtncatcher (14/1), My Murphy (16/1), Ludo Et Emergo (25/1)
The Crafty Butcher is well regarded by connections and has to be taken seriously, but the step down in trip is a concern for a horse who seems to prefer further, while The Paparazzi Kid seems to have conditions all in his favour today. Preference though, is for REALT MOR. His second to Douvan in a recent Punchestown Grade 2 is the stand-out piece of form, and he can come home in front if handling the ground.
- Realt Mor
- The Paparrazi Kid
- The Crafty Butcher
