Has been slow to adapt to chasing. Has dropped to his last winning mark for hurdling. Ground is ideal and ought to be fitter for two runs back from a two year absence.
Needs a test of stamina and will get one here. Has struggled off a revised mark lately but is gradually dropping to the level which brought him a C&D success in December. Visor now applied after a poor run last time.
Makes chasing debut at a track which produced her best effort in similar conditions. Steps up in trip and, judged on point-to-point form, that would be a plus.
Shoulders a penalty for his latest success on chase debut. That was just his second start for new trainer and there could be more to come. Has to prove he has the stamina for the test this will provide. Stable 3-7 during the last two weeks.
Made all to collect a weak race at Catterick under a positive ride. Unable to dominate on faster ground last time and conditions will be more favourable here. Remains 9lb higher in the weights than at Catterick and that looks excessive.
Winning pointer who showed first sign of promise last time when third to a subsequent winner. Goes chasing for a yard that have been going well.
Tailed-off last time and hard to envisage that this 33 race maiden will open his account if reproducing that type of effort. Cheekpieces are refitted.
Has proved to be inconsistent and cheekpieces are now tried. Has shown glimmers of ability, notably when staying on at Newcastle, but two runs since raise doubts.
Yet to make the frame in 15 starts and has finished tailed-off in last three starts. Hard to recommend.
Forecasts
Kanturk Bank (2/1), Smuggler's Stash (9/2), Hattons Hill (15/2), Allez Cool (15/2), Man In Black (15/2), Milan Dancer (10/1), Vincent Row (10/1), Major Ridge (11/1), Warksburn Boy (100/1)
MAN IN BLACK is interesting on his chase debut. A winning pointer he could come into his own now and the longer trip is not a worry. His third over hurdles last time is a good piece of form with the winner scoring again since under a penalty. Kanturk Bank represents a stable enjoying a fabulous winter. His talented trainer is capable of getting the extra needed to defy a penalty. Milan Dancer will have conditions to suit and her point-to-point form suggests she is capable of better than she has shown so far.
- Man In Black
- Kanturk Bank
- Milan Dancer
