Has won three times for current connections, though not yet in a handicap. Well beaten from this mark on similar going in February, though did run well from 3lb lower in defeat at Musselburgh last time. Should not be far away though this drop in trip not certain to suit.

Took advantage of a career low mark to open account in a weak race last time. Was well supported that day and connections have found another poor contest. Drops significantly in trip but this stiff course in testing conditions will bring stamina into play.

Nine race Flat maiden makes her handicap debut over hurdles. Has shown very little in three runs over hurdles. Best of those efforts came on similar ground but she remains difficult to recommend.

Has been off the course since finishing well behind at Cartmel in July. Likely to be found out for fitness in these conditions.

Has been off the course since a dramatic loss of form last summer. Has produced some good efforts here including a C&D success but yet to encounter ground this testing. Has dropped to a handicap which would make her interesting if the market spoke in her favour. Stable are in form and she has previously gone well after a break.

Stable have won the last two runnings of this. Has won twice over C&D and underfoot conditions will suit. Latest run makes her hard to recommend from 3lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Hurricane Rita (5/6), My Little Cracker (5/2), Miss Joeking (9/2), Mrs Grass (25/1), Sun Odyssey (33/1), Bahrikate (66/1)

Verdict

HURRICANE RITA is going to be hard to beat in this, even though racing off a 7lb higher mark over a shorter trip. Her latest victory coincided with positive tactics being employed and a career low mark. A similar ride on this track in these conditions may reap dividends. My Little Cracker will have support given her connections. She has won on similar going around here previously and her latest run was a big improvement. The concession of weight all round may tell in the closing stages and Miss Joeking may be more of a threat. The six-year-old has dropped to an attractive mark and has a good rider claiming 8lb. Given her stable's current form it would be no surprise to see this C&D winner playing a major role.
  1. Hurricane Rita
  2. Miss Joeking
  3. My Little Cracker
