Arrives seeking the hat-trick following C&D and Lingfield victories last month. Dispatched Ki Ki (fourth) over C&D by about 1L and renews battle on 2lb worse terms tonight, with the fifth horse in that race (Sea Of Green) winning last weekend. A new mark of 66 is probably still just a winnable one.

Fifteen race maiden, but represents a trainer with a good past record with sprinters, and has a course record of 2,4,2. Possibly needed last month's Wolverhampton reappearance, but was beaten in a claimer by the veteran Kiwi Bay when second in August 2016 (1m), so likely to find a few too good at this level over this shorter trip.

Returned from a three and a half month break to edge out stablemate Horsforth (runs earlier) over 5F at this track earlier this month. Upped 2lb for that victory, and has won over this trip in the past (2013) but generally most effective over shorter.

Very closely matched with Spirit of Zebedee on the basis of their clash here early last month, and has since won a C&D fillies handicap by ½L (runner up Fredricka, second since), so looks fairly treated from just a 3lb higher mark (63).

Off the track for almost exactly 12 months, and has left James Tate for £5,500 since then (Ascot Sales, April 2016). Raced exclusively on synthetics so far (Tapeta runner up at Wolverhampton) and worth keeping an eye on for a shrewd trainer in the first time hood.

Consistent and placed on his last three starts, but returns from a three month break with the handicapper seemingly firmly in control. The maiden in which he finished second on his penultimate start over C&D wasn't the strongest of races, with his conqueror Tadaawol contesting the previous race tonight at 8.20pm.

Seems most effective over this trip, having raced over a variety of trips (upto 1m) since October, with his best effort of 2017 coming early in the year at Wolverhampton (second to Born To Finish). Beaten into third by Table Manners over 7F early last month, but every chance of reversing placings tonight on better terms.

A most consistent mare, but highly unlikely to find this drop back in trip to 6F in her favour. 4lb higher than when beating Disclosure (third) over 7F in an apprentices handicap here on her penultimate start last month, with that rival promising to be much more better suited by this 6F trip tonight. Still on a winnable if elevated mark (58), but likely to be other days for her to shine.

Landed a C&D maiden fillies contest by the minimum margin of a nose early last month, with the third placed Scala Regia also successful here last week. Possibly not suited by dropping back to 5F in a tight small field affair last time, but fairly reliable overall at this track and improving with racing.

Lost his way badly since winning on debut in October 2015, and little signs of a revival on AW debut here recently, but could be well treated if eventually finding a seam of form being out of a multiple winning sprinter Aahgowangowan, and also a half-brother to Gowanharry.

Forecasts

Spirit Of Zebedee (4/1), Ki Ki (9/2), Inshaa (5/1), Epeius (8/1), Ambitious Icarus (8/1), Disclosure (8/1), Table Manners (10/1), Grecian King (10/1), Lady Cristal (16/1), Gowanless (33/1)

Verdict

A tight sprint handicap in which a number of these runners have been in good form and probably still remain on winnable (if elevated) marks. Plenty of these horses also have extensive experience of this track including the hat-trick seeking Spirit of Zebedee, the five furlong specialist Ambitious Icarus and the improving pair of fillies Ki Ki and Lady Cristal. However, a chance is taken that DISCLOSURE will appreciate a drop back to six furlongs at this stiff track, and from a fair mark can comfortably extract his revenge on previous conqueror Table Manners.
  1. Disclosure
  2. Spirit of Zebedee
  3. Ki Ki
