Showed promise as a juvenile last spring, though assessor took a keen grip on him towards the back end of the season. Best effort in handicaps was over C&D last month from today's mark and should be thereabouts again if now capable of some consistency.
Probably her best effort in three runs so far came last time at Newcastle over this trip, when unfancied but just losing out on second place close to home. Been set a workable mark of 60 by the assessor for her debut in this sphere and interesting to see what the market makes of her chance.
Made a decent start to his handicapping career over the minimum trip here last time, suffering from some trouble in running before sticking on well. The extra furlong therefore looks a positive and likely to make an impact from the same mark.
Has made the frame in half of her eight starts, her only handicap run being when a 3½L third here (5f) from 4lb higher in October. Entitled to some sort of claim on that basis, given that she has not run badly in maidens since and she also runs from a good draw today.
Tried only at trips between 7f and 1m2f in four starts to date, the most recent being her handicap debut when sixth of seven, beaten 16L as the favourite. Dropped 2lb since, so there may be money for her again, though clearly carries risks even if he has the speed for this.
Made the frame in a Brighton maiden auction contest (5½f, good to firm ) in August but well held on both starts since switching to handicaps. Gelded since last run in October and first-time headgear now applied, so will be interesting to see what effect each has.
Not yet threatened to get her nose in front in seven starts, including last time over this trip at Kempton from 3lb higher. Assessor is beginning to give her a chance, though on face value of her form she is likely to need to drop a few pounds more before she goes in.
Well beaten in all four starts to date, including on handicap debut last time. Cheek pieces apparently need to work miracles, although stable's only recent runner was a winner. Even so, can't recommend her this time.
Races from 1lb out of the handicap and without the cheek pieces that she sported last time when beaten 3L into seventh over 5f here. Has not threatened to win so far and hard to see that trend being broken today.
Forecasts
Vaux (3/1), Alfolk (9/2), Sheila's Palace (5/1), Champagne Queen (11/2), Night Shadow (6/1), Vocalisation (12/1), Blastofmagic (14/1), Mimic's Memory (16/1), Tink (50/1)
Vaux looks capable of building on a good effort here last time and should be thereabouts, while Night Shadow should benefit from the extra furlong and can pick up some prize money. SHEILA'S PALACE knows more about the game than most and this is only her second handicap. She showed promise in her previous try and can get her nose in front from 4lb lower with a good draw to help.
- Sheila's Palace
- Vaux
- Night Shadow
