Won a weak bumper here on debut before failing to follow up at Warwick last time. Definite place chance now back here but the ground would be a worry on last time's evidence.

Has come up short three times in similar contests, though the form from those races is working out well with the likes of River Wylde and Sumkindofking ahead of him. Place claims again.

Beaten 4L in a similar contest at Towcester last time having traveled well throughout, and cannot be discounted if coming on from that run.
Makes his racecourse debut today being from the family of Kauto Star, though with a relatively unexciting pedigree except for that. Market will guide.

Well beaten on racecourse debut in a bumper at Sandown in November. This looks to be no easier and much more will be required today.
Placed in a point to point before being beaten into fourth on racecourse debut at Towcester last time. Was two places behind Drumlee City that day and there's no obvious reason why he should make up those five lengths today.
Won a maiden point to point in December and makes his debut under rules today. Worth a second look in the market, though may want further in time given the manner of that point win.
Makes her debut today with a conditional jockey claiming 7lb. Out of a bumper winner but others appeal more on paper.

Tried in cheek pieces after a couple of near misses, including a debut run which could have resulted in a win but for him running green in the closing stages. Leading contender on that evidence.
Won a point to point in impressive style, now making his debut for a top trainer. Good pedigree and worth a market check.

Forecasts

Warthog (5/2), The Flame (7/2), Amateur (4/1), Phoebus Lescribaa (9/2), Drumlee City (9/2), Asylo (8/1), Njorls Saga (12/1), Oliver's Island (14/1), Cap Horner (20/1), Kauto Lingarry (25/1), Monar Lad (40/1)

Verdict

This is an open looking bumper where none of the runners can be easily dismissed. The Flame was impressive in winning his point to point and now finds himself the capable hands of a top trainer. He should go well, as should Warthog, another point to point graduate who now runs for eye catching connections. Preference though, is for AMATEUR. John Flint's charge has run two nice races for different trainers, and though the quick successive change of handlers isn't ideal, perhaps the first time cheek pieces can solve his issue with running green and encourage him to get off the mark at the third time of asking.
  1. Amateur
  2. The Flame
  3. Warthog
