Showed good form in his younger days in bumpers and over hurdles, but didn't seem to take to fences and is still yet to win over them, with connections persisting with the chasing route. Steps back down in trip after not seeing out 3m at Taunton last time.
Course winner over slightly further who clearly relishes give in the ground. Looks to have lost some of his talent in his advancing years and his jumping can be an issue, but he can't be discounted off an attractive mark.
Finished behind What's Up Rory at this track recently, though he is slightly better off at the weights today. This looks to be his trip, and his only career win (in a bumper) came on soft ground.
12 race maiden who seems to have relished the switch to fences, running some of his better races in this sphere. It would be a mild concern that the ground could be too soft for him, however.
More letters than numbers in his recent form figures over fences but ran well over hurdles without ever getting his head in front. Handicap mark looks workable, but he needs to prove his jumping won't be an issue.
Former point to pointer who has been running some solid races recently including twice behind Buveur D'Air when the Champion Hurdle fancy was running over fences. Up 4lb for his second on handicap debut last time and could go one better today.
Won at Wincanton in November (1m7½f, good), beating Shintori in the process, but is yet to prove he can be as effective on the soft ground he is likely to experience today.
Handicapper seems to have his measure since he won at Uttoxeter in September 2015 (2m, good). Still not down to that winning mark and has been struggling since, including when beaten 40L over C&D last month.
Has shown little ability in both hurdles and chases so far in his career, and was beaten 90L at Lingfield when last seen. First time blinkers will have to make all the difference.
Forecasts
What's Up Rory (9/4), Wabanaki (9/2), Shintori (5/1), Winston Churchill (6/1), Time And Again (8/1), Bahumbug (14/1), Lord Adare (16/1), Triggywinkle (25/1), Going Nowhere Fast (33/1)
The ground would be a concern for a few of these, but not so WABANAKI whose only career win so far came in a soft ground bumper. He hasn't been performing fantastically recently but should get his conditions today and looks to be well handicapped, especially dropped to 2m. What's Up Rory, a horse who finished ahead of him here recently, could give him a run for his money again, while the veteran Time And Again is another to consider if getting his jumping together.
