Won from marks of 115 and 114 in 2013 and 2014 respectively and after having had some problems, he showed signs of a revival in fortunes when stepped up to 3m at Musselburgh last time. Has won over C&D and with his 10lb claimer up and this could be the day that he strikes again.

8lb higher than when winning at Leicester (1m7½f, soft) two starts ago and well held from 1lb higher last time. Appreciates the forecast conditions too and this trip might help elicit some improvement.

Remains 5lb higher than his latest success, which came in a Sedgefield handicap hurdle (1m7½f, good) in November. Last two runs suggests that this mark is too taxing for him, while his best form though trip should be fine.

Debut bumper winner on good ground when with Harry Fry and showed little for current yard in novices' hurdles until winning on his handicap debut at Sedgefield last time (2m4f, soft). Connections quick to send him back to the track under a penalty and should be tough to beat.

Fontwell bumper winner (soft) in October and ran with credit in defeat in three novices' hurdles. Tried over 2m5f last time, though this slightly shorter trip should be fine for now and interesting if supported on her handicap introduction.

Winner of a Ludlow bumper (good) last season and has threatened to add to that twice in novices' hurdles. Heavy ground may have contributed to a flat run last time out, so this step back up in trip and forecast ground being not quite so testing are pluses.

Handicap debutante who should reveal more now than when working towards his mark. The assessor sees him as a 102-rated runner first up in this sphere and time will tell whether he is right. Best watched unless market speaks strongly of him.

Forecasts

Meribel Millie (2/1), Master Vintage (7/2), Bowie (4/1), Tinted Rose (11/2), Rocky Two (13/2), Alizee Javilex (10/1), Robin Why Not (10/1), Jaunty Thor (14/1)

Verdict

MERIBEL MILLIE had dropped to an attractive mark before obliging at Sedgefield last time and Neil Mulholland tries to capitalise on that here by attempting the follow-up under a penalty, which looks worthwhile. Bowie is also looking well handicapped again, particularly back at this trip and should be heavily involved. Tinted Rose is an interesting handicap debutante, while Rocky Two would not be winning out of turn.
  1. Meribel Millie

  3. Tinted Rose
