Shouldered top weight to win a similar contest at Newcastle last time by 8L (heavy) and has gone up 5lb as a result. Stays further, but this looks his optimum trip for the time being and will be touch to peg him back.
Effective over fences at trips from 2m to 2m4f and has twice won on heavy ground. 2lb higher than when scoring at Kelso in November (2m1f, good to soft) and with his pilot's claim to ease the burden he looks capable of going close.
Heavy ground winner over C&D in February of last year and has subsequently won from today's mark at Wetherby and from 2lb higher at Hexham. Best two runs since then have been here and he looks more than capable of having a say even if the effect of first-time blinkers is negligible.
