Slightly surprising he's been switched to fences after rattling off a hat-trick over the smaller obstacles this winter and lugging top weight around here won't be easy if the ground continues to soften.

Blandfords Gunner44
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: James Nixon(7)| T: H Whittington| OR:  124

Disappointing of late and not shown enough in two starts for this yard to fancy him for this. Best performances have come on better ground.
3
Horse silk
Rock On Rockyp,t19
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-11| J: Stan Sheppard(5)| T: M Sheppard| OR:  123
4/1
Trainer has a strong record with last time out winners (25%) and this son of Overbury will relish these conditions in his bid for a hat-trick. Only out the frame twice in his seven starts over fences and he's hard to oppose.

Horse silk
Vengeur De Guyet23
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-10| J: T Scudamore| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  122
7/1
Both wins have been on good to soft, though has run well on very testing ground. Very inconsistent sort whose not won for over two years and never won off a mark this high.

Vicangelomet21
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-9| J: Max Kendrick(7)| T: B I Case| OR:  121
6/1
Four of his five wins have had heavy in the going description and while he hasn't fired in two starts this year, it's too soon to write him off. Talented conditional jockey takes off 7lb and any market support would be interesting.

Horse silk
Helium29
Age: 12|  Weight: 11-7| J: Adam Wedge| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  119
11/1
Not won since 2015 and while he's still capable of running to a decent level, this veteran is vulnerable to anything improving even at a mild rate.

Forecasts

Artifice Sivola (2/1), Rock On Rocky (4/1), Blandfords Gunner (4/1), Vicangelome (6/1), Vengeur De Guye (7/1), Helium (11/1)

Verdict

ROCKY ON ROCKY has really got the hang of things over fences of late and he's a consistent sort; he's likely to prove hard to beat in a hat-trick bid. Vicangelome shouldn't be ruled out if he can return to form and Artifice Sivola has looked a little better over hurdles but there's no doubt he could run into a place if the ground doesn't get too soft.
  1. Rock On Rocky
  2. Vicangelome
  3. Artifice Sivola
