Winner of the Royal Artillery Gold Cup here under today's jockey last month. That outing was his second since returning from a near 20 month absence in January. He clearly retains plenty of ability and has now won 50% of his rules outings (4/8) and should appreciate the ground conditions here.

Well beaten in tongue tie and blinkers (the latter left off here) in a handicap chase at Chepstow in January and has looked on the decline over the last 14 months. Was a useful horse on his day and interesting to see if this change in trainer can bring about a revival.

Finished runner-up behind Rathlin Rose in a similar event to this last month. Hasn't won for over two years now but he seems to run well at this track (placed here in December) and did finish runner-up in this race under today's jockey 12 months ago.

Finished third in this race in 2015 but moved yards since and no show when sent off favourite and pulled up at Fakenham last month. Fair chance that he will have come on for that run and any market support would be interesting.

Winner of his penultimate start in a point-to-point at Larkhill in January but beaten on three other occasions in that sphere. Was a useful horse under rules a couple of years ago and trainer and jockey won this race in 2013. Likely to prove difficult to beat here.
Placed in three hunter chases in 2016 but well beaten on his final outing for his previous stable at Stratford in May. Debuted for this yard in a point-to-point at Cottenham at the end of December and has looked better over shorter trips in the past.

Not beaten far when fourth at Chepstow over 2m on soft ground last month. Has been racing in low grade handicaps of late however and would be receiving weight from all of his rivals were this event a handicap.

Sole victory came in a Newbury maiden hurdle in March 2014. Has struggled since returning from 22 months off the track this season and well held over fences at Newbury last time out. Only previous attempt over 3m resulted in him pulling up.

Consistent handicapper who's finished in the first three in four of his last five outings including behind Rathlin Rose last month. Has a bit to do with that rival here and appears to be better over shorter trips.

Useful performer a couple of years ago and has run well enough in a couple of decent point-to-point events under today's jockey this season to suggest he retains plenty of ability. Wears a tongue tie for the first time here.

Forecasts

Rathlin Rose (7/4), Ardkilly Witness (4/1), Ceasar Milan (9/2), Renard (8/1), My Wigwam Or Yours (10/1), Rouge Et Blanc (10/1), A Tail Of Intrigue (11/1), Shantou Magic (16/1), Wilton Milan (50/1), Cooladerry King (66/1), Edeiff's Lad (100/1)

Verdict

CAESAR MILAN has put in some solid efforts in the point-to-point field so far this season and made all when winning his penultimate outing in January. His trainer and jockey have won this contest in the past and he can get the better of last months Royal Artillery Gold Cup winner Rathlin Rose for the victory here with the formerly useful chaser Shantou Magic taken to complete the placings.
  1. Ceasar Milan
  2. Rathlin Rose
  3. Shantou Magic
