Nothing wrong with his mark based on hurdles form (7lb lower than last win) and may well have needed both runs this winter for fitness (off for 18 months previously). This looks more suitable and holds a solid chance.

Had looked a good ground horse before victory on heavy ground here last time, putting the race to bed some way from home. 10lb hike in the weights looks enough, but she's at least going the right way.

Won back-to-back handicaps in the winter but less to enthuse about on last couple of efforts, looking laboured at Bangor last time. Short break may have helped, as may change of headgear today, but a bit to take on trust now.

Trainer firing the winners in for fun and he's making hay with this one, having won his last two. Races off same mark as last win as it was a conditionals race, acts well on heavy, and trip ideal. The one to beat on current form.

Better effort last time (over this C&D) when not beaten far in a handicap hurdle, but that was a low grade affair and chase mark is 6lb higher. Requires more to get involved against some in-form rivals.

Forecasts

Sea Wall (4/5), Barton Rose (3/1), Allthegear No Idea (9/1), Moscow Me (11/1), Copper Birch (11/1)

Verdict

Chris Gordon could almost get the stable cat to win a race at present, and the in-form SEA WALL can continue his good run. He's in here off the same mark as his last win, making him look very well treated, and the likely heavy ground won't pose any problem. Barton Rose proved herself on deep ground last time out and she should run well again, and Allthegearnoidea
  1. Sea Wall
  2. Barton Rose
  3. Allthegear No Idea
