In great form and has won last two, one of them over C&D back in February. Handles heavy ground, and is a sound jumper, and despite having to shoulder a penalty, has plenty in his favour and may complete the three-timer.

Inconsistent but capable of decent form on his day, such as when second to Chic Theatre at Market Rasen two starts ago (hurdles), but typically threw in a bad one latest when reverting to fences, although possibly outclassed. Risky.

Acts on this ground and best at trips around 2m4f, so has that going for him, and was capable of solid handicap form last season. Ran as well as could have been expected against the useful Toby Lerone at Hereford but probably has a little to find on balance.

Won a Class 2 handicap at Cheltenham back in 2015, so has the backclass, but no win since that and form seems to have plateaued out somewhat. Trip looks too far as well (all wins around 2m) and too much to prove now.

Reserves best efforts for Leicester (form figures in chases here 1121) and acts on heavy too, effective from 2m to 3m so trip is fine, but the worry is that all wins have come in lesser grade than today. Not discounted though, with yard in good form.

Forecasts

Global Dream (2/1), Ballinvarrig (9/4), Simply Wings (11/4), Keel Haul (17/2), Crookstown (16/1)

Verdict

Despite carrying top weight, BALLINVARRIG is taken to land the hat-trick. He's in irresistible form at present at with conditions again in his favour, can win again before the handicapper catches up with him. Global Dream likes it here and although he'd be happier slightly down the grading ladder, should pick up some prizemoney, along with the veteran Simply Wings.
  1. Ballinvarrig
  2. Global Dream
  3. Simply Wings
