Both career wins have been on good ground, including one over fences at Sedgefield in September from an 8lb lower mark when with Charlie Longsdon. Only just failed next time form 1lb lower. Changed hands for £11,000 in November, though tailed off at Kelso when pulled up on sole start since. Claims if on song and market check advised.

Back on the same mark as when scoring here over slightly further (soft) in December, under today's pilot. Seems to be able to do significantly better when dropped to this mark so with stable flying he could prove tough to beat.

Three of his four career wins have been on heavy ground, as was the case at Uttoxeter last time, when he put behind him a string of letters to beat a hot favourite. Tried just once over fences before today when pulled up over C&D in January from 5lb lower. Inconsistent.

Sole win was in a Musselburgh maiden hurdle over four years ago (soft) and has clearly had problems since, running only five times. 0-5 at this venue, though did go well enough from 4lb higher in December and not completely ruled out.

Forecasts

Marlee Massie (6/4), Transient Bay (5/2), Buffalo Ballet (3/1), Cooper's Friend (7/1)

Verdict

One of those small field, trappy looking contests where a win for any of the quarter would not be a major surprise. Transient Bay has a bit to prove in this discipline and from this mark, while Buffalo Ballet appears to be the Nick Alexander second string and his other runner. MARLEE MASSIE is selected from a mark that appeals. Cooper's Friend has claims too if he could reproduce the form of his last couple of runs for Charlie Longsdon.
  1. Marlee Massie
  2. Cooper's Friend
  3. Buffalo Ballet
