First three starts failed to inspire and returns to the racecourse after a six-month break here. Has both fitness to prove and the ability to handle the forecast conditions and probably best watched.

Probably worth a try at this trip, having been outpaced in a bumper and then not getting home when a faller in a point-to-point last time. Has to prove he handles the ground and would be more interesting if supported.
Entitled to decent claims here after three bumper runs in which he has shown promise on each occasion. Makes his hurdles debut over a more suitable trip now. Seems to handle cut well enough and looks a leading contender.

£10,000 buy last year after making the frame in a point-to-point and not run too badly in two bumpers. Step up in trip for this hurdles debut looks an should be able to improve.

1/1
The only runner with previous winning form, having scored in a bumper at Hexham in October (good). Has run well in two of his four hurdles, which have all been at this track, last time finishing runner-up in a similar contest over C&D (heavy). Should go close.

Forecasts

Vertigo (1/1), Notnow Seamus (2/1), Short Flight (9/2), Mullaghboy (16/1), Gentleman James (66/1)

Verdict

Lucinda Russell has her team in good shape at present and the suggestion is to side with the experience of VERTIGO to prove beneficial and break his maiden tag. Marjorie Fife is also among the winners, so with Brian Hughes booked her hurdling debutant Notnow Seamus looks capable of making a race of it now stepped up in trip. Mullaghboy is probably the one to keep an eye on in the market.

  2. Notnow Seamus
  3. Mullaghboy
