Showed precious little in his sole start in a bumper, or on his Wetherby hurdles debut, but better than the bare result implied last time at Carlisle when fourth at odds of 100/1 to an emphatic odds-on winner. Drops back in trip today in a weak novices hurdle but is likely to find at least one of the others too good.
Makes his hurdles debut, having shaped with some promise in bumpers. Wasn't given too hard a time on debut when just over 8L fourth to the abundantly talented Ravenhill Road at Doncaster in December, and again when third (a moral second best) to Champ at Southwell in late January. Leading contender in a weak race.
No stranger to Ludlow, with all of his three career starts coming in Shropshire. Fair to say that he's achieved little so far, but a half-brother to several winners including Our Mick, he's given respect hailing from this stable.

Easily the most experienced of this field, but on the other hand remains a maiden after six career starts. Understandably proved no match for Sam Spinner when upped to 2m3f at Catterick in early February, but a shade surprising he was dropped back to this trip next time at Sedgefield. Vulnerable to any runner with any scope whatsoever.

Given his ownership and distant family pedigree, he has most likely been bought with chasing in mind. Probably didn't improve for the benefit of his bumper debut at Ayr in December, when fifth of eight back at the same Scottish track last month, and makes his hurdles debut here needing to improve on what he's shown so far.
Not only the sole mare in this race (receives a handy allowance) but also the sole winner, having landed a 2m4f Pyle Point-to-Point in April 2015 for previous trainer Robert Luke. Leading Northern rider booked for her rules debut for a local trainer in a race which won't take too much winning.

Forecasts

Reverant Cust (5/2), Our Delboy (3/1), Midnite Grace (3/1), Midnight Moss (4/1), Cyrano Star (16/1), Witness Time (20/1)

Verdict

Not too much obvious strength in depth in this weak novices hurdle. Midnite Grace is an unknown given her absence from the track since winning a Pyle Point-to-Point in April 2015, but she represents a syndicate who have had horses with both this trainer and Nicky Richards in the past. Cyrano Star stepped up noticeably last time when going down to Catamaran Du Seuil at Carlisle, but is again likely to find a couple of rivals too good. Therefore, whilst he makes his hurdles debut today, MIDNIGHT MOSS is the horse they've all got to beat on the strength of his debut NHF run behind the talented Ravenhill Road, and he can provide Gillian Boanas with her first winner as a trainer since taking over the training license from Keith Reveley.
  1. Midnight Moss
  2. Midnite Grace
  3. Cyrano Star
